Australia comes into the World Cup on the back of an excellent 2-1 series win over India. The last time they played New Zealand was in December 2024, when Australia won 2-0. I am without hesitation backing Australia to win their opening match in the World Cup against New Zealand.

Jess Kerr (3/22, econ 2.20) was sensational with the ball, reducing Sri Lanka to 23/3 inside the first 10 overs. Fran Jonas (3/40, econ 4.00) sliced through the lower middle-order as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 182 off the last ball of their innings.
