The Hobart Hurricanes are predicted to emerge victorious in their upcoming showdown, with Nikhil Chaudhary anticipated to deliver a standout performance as the top scorer. With odds indicating confidence in Chaudhary’s potential, he's pegged at 5.25 to be the best batter for the Hurricanes. Meanwhile, Ashton Turner is tipped as the best batter for the Perth Scorchers with odds of 6.50. The key recommendation is to back Nikhil Chaudhary for an exciting performance, as the Hurricanes look poised for success.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Perth Scorchers Predictions

The Hurricanes are on a power-surge, winning four of their five matches this season, including their last three on the bounce. Their top-order is also firing, so they should easily outgun the Scorchers.

  • Hobart Hurricanes’ Nikhil Chaudhary (180 runs, ave 36.00) is 3rd in the Big Bash runs list.
  • Hobart Hurricanes’ Ben McDermott has scored 38, 69 & 49* in his last 5 innings.
  • Perth Scorchers’ Ashton Turner hit 8 sixes and 8 fours in his 99* against the Thunder.
  • Perth Scorchers’ Cooper Connolly has scored 59, 77 & 28 in his 4 Big Bash innings.

Head-to-Head

The Hurricanes have won three and lost two of their last five matches against the Scorchers, including the last two matches in a row. They beat them by four wickets on Boxing Day.

Hobart Hurricanes Form

Hobart Hurricanes made it three wins in a row when they beat the Renegades by four wickets.

Nikhil Chaudhary and Ben McDermott have been huge contributors to the Hurricanes’ great start to the season, with Matthew Wade chipping in with scores of 25 and 43*. Beau Webster has been in good form, scoring 78, 44 and 27 in his last three matches, but he will miss the clash with the Scorchers due to a Test match recall.

Nathan Ellis turned in a magnificent bowling performance in the win over the Renegades. The right-arm quick took 3/30 (econ 7.50) on the back of returns of 2/43 and 1/31 in the previous two matches. Chris Jordan has proven tough for opposition batters to get away, playing a key role in two of his side’s wins by taking 2/36 and 4/19. Riley Meredith has also been extremely economical with the ball.

Perth Scorchers Form

The Scorchers have won two and lost two of their four matches this season. Their last match was a thumping 71-run win over the Thunder.

Ashton Turner has enjoyed a superb December, scoring 71*, 16* and 99* in his five innings in the month.  Mitchell Marsh’s lack of runs is a concern, but he is sure to deliver on his incredible white-ball form soon. Cooper Connolly's superb form with the bat has been matched by some valuable bowling spells, including taking 3/23 and 2/26 in their last two matches. Finn Allen has scored 79 and 43 in his last three innings.

Joel Paris picked up 2/22 and 2/28 in the last two matches, while Brody Couch has taken 2/12 and 2/28. Aaron Hardie took 2/7 (econ 3.50) against the Thunder after taking some tap in the previous two matches. Ashton Agar has yet to take a wicket in four Big Bash matches this season.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Perth Scorchers Team News

The Hurricanes are losing Beau Webster, who is rejoining the Ashes squad for the 5th Test. He is being replaced by Charlie Wakim, a Local Replacement Player who was signed after Tim David’s BBL season-ending injury.

The Scorchers are also losing a player to the Ashes Test squad. Josh Inglis will be replaced by seam bowler Bryce Jackson, who is still looking to make his Big Bash debut.

Hobart Hurricanes (possible XI): Mitchell Owen, Tim Ward, Beau Webster, Ben McDermott, Nikhil Chaudhary, Matthew Wade (w), Rehan Ahmed, Chris Jordan, Nathan Ellis (c), Rishad Hossain, Riley Meredith.
