Both of these teams come into this fixture off the back of defeats against sides they were expected to beat. It makes for an interesting clash, one that is tough to predict. I am going to back the Proteas to get the win.

England are under quite a bit of pressure coming into this match as they find themselves sixth on the table after three games. They have lost two of their three fixtures to date.

Last time out the defending champions suffered defeat to Afghanistan by 69 runs. Afghanistan batted first, scoring an impressive 284 runs in their 50 overs.

Most would have expected England to chase that score down but they struggled against the spin. Harry Brook top scored with 66 runs but no one else managed more than 32 as England were all out for 215 runs with 10 overs to spare.

South Africa Form

South Africa began the World Cup in superb fashion with two impressive wins over Sri Lanka and Australia. They were suddenly being talked about as the dark horses for the title, but then in typical South African fashion, they suffered a humiliating defeat to the Netherlands.

In a match that was reduced to 43 overs, Netherlands batted first. The Proteas had them on the backfoot all the way, restricting them to 82-5 and then 140-7.

But then South Africa let the Dutch off the hook with some shocking bowling at the death as they raced to a score of 245.

Still, it was largely expected that the strong batting lineup of the Proteas would pull through. They didn’t with David Miller top-scoring with 43 runs and Keshav Maharaj adding 40 late on.

In the end, the Proteas were all out for 207 runs.
