India vs New Zealand Women Predictions - Mandhana to seal crucial win for India’s semi-final hopes

Last updated: 21 Oct 2025

In the upcoming India Women vs New Zealand Women cricket match, expectations are high for India to secure a win after three consecutive losses. Despite struggling against top teams, India's Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur have shown strong individual performances recently. Meanwhile, New Zealand, who clinched their first win against Bangladesh, largely relies on standout players like Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday. With the odds favoring India, key players such as Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma may lead them to victory, while Sophie Devine remains New Zealand's hope for a substantial contribution.

India vs New Zealand Women Predictions

India are reeling after losing their last three games to the top three teams on the table, but they have been playing well as a unit. New Zealand have relied largely on Sophie Devine, Brooke Halliday, so I don’t see them having the resources to defeat India playing at home.

  • India Women’s Smriti Mandhana has scored 23, 23, 80 & 88 in her last 4 innings.
  • India Women’s Harmanpreet Kaur scored 70 off 70 balls against England.
  • New Zealand Women’s Sophie Devine (260 runs, ave 86.66) is 2nd in the World Cup runs list.
  • New Zealand Women’s Brooke Halliday has scored 28, 45 & 69 in her last 3 innings.

Head-to-Head

India have won three and lost two of their last five WODIs against New Zealand.

India Women Form

India suffered their third defeat on the bounce when they lost to England by four runs.

Deepti Sharma (4/51) was once again India’s star turn with the ball, but her efforts weren’t enough to prevent England from racking up  288/4 off their 50 overs.

Smriti Mandhana (88) and Harmanpreet Kaur (70) were superb with the bat, but India ended their 50 overs on 284/6, losing by four runs.

India Women Team News

India have been in good form but have struggled to beat the top sides in the tournament.

New Zealand Women Form

After picking up their first win of the tournament against Bangladesh, New Zealand had the frustration of having their next two matches rained-off.

Sophie Devine (63) and Brooke Halliday (69) added 112 for the fourth wicket to ensure New Zealand could post a competitive score of 227/9 off their 50 overs.

Rosemary Mair (2/20) and Jess Kerr (3/21) struck early to reduce Bangladesh to 33/6. Lea Tahuhu (3/22) joined the party and helped New Zealand secure their first win of the tournament.

Their next two matches were rained off, first with Sri Lanka having scored 258/6 and the second match saw New Zealand on top, with Pakistan in trouble at 92/5.

New Zealand Women Team News

New Zealand need a greater contribution from across their top-order batters.

Verdict

I am backing India Women to win. I am also backing Smriti Mandhana to top score for India Women, while Deepti Sharma is a good call as Player of the Match.

Sophie Devine is a good bet to top score for the New Zealand Women.
