The Delhi Capitals have made a good start to the 2021 IPL as they look to go all the way after ending as runner-up last season. They have won four of their six matches and sit third on the table.

The Capitals lost their last match, the first of the tournament to be played in Ahmedabad. The pitch was unknown but Rishabh Pant won the crucial toss and elected to field first.

They had the Royal Challengers Bangalore on the ropes until AB de Villiers tore the bowling apart in the final few overs. Avesh Khan continued his impressive form, taking 1-24 in four overs.

Shikhar Dhawan and Steven Smith fell early in the chase which put the Capitals on the back foot. Marcus Stoinis and Prithvi Shaw got out soon after and at 92-4 the game looked out of reach.

Pant and Shimron Hetmyer however had other ideas with the latter smashing 53 off 25 balls. Needing 10 off the last two balls Pant could only hit two boundaries as the Capitals lost by two runs. Pant ended on 58 not out.

Delhi Capitals Injuries & Team News

The Delhi Capitals are almost certainly going to continue with Amit Mishra and Axer Patel as spin bowlers considering the surface in Ahmedabad. That means Anrich Nortje is likely to remain on the bench.

Shimron Hetmyer’s superb innings will be enough to keep him in the side after a poor recent run.

Kolkata Knight Riders Form

It has been a slow start for the Kolkata Knight Riders who have two wins from their opening six matches. They are placed sixth on the table and will need results if they are to close the gap on the top three.

The Knight Riders put in a very good all round display in their last outing against the Punjab Kings to win by five wickets. On a difficult pitch in Ahmedabad, the Knight Riders restricted the Kings to 123 runs with Prasidh Krishna taking 3-30. Sunil Narine continued his impressive form with figures of 2-22.

Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana and Sunil Narine were all dismissed early. That left the Knight Rider reeling at 17-3 but Eoin Morgan (47) and Rahul Tripathi (41) made the game comfortable in the end.

Kolkata Knight Riders Injuries & Team News

The Knight Riders have a good bowling lineup for the conditions in Ahmedabad. They’d ideally like to play Shakib Al Hasan alongside Sunil Narine but that would mean dropping either Pat Cummins or Andre Russell from the side.
