Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes Predictions - Hurricanes to blow Renegades away

Editor
Last updated: 2 hours ago

The Melbourne Renegades come off two victories to start their campaign, while the Hobart Hurricanes hope to recover from a recent eight-wicket loss to the Stars. Despite the setback, the Hurricanes display formidable strength, making them a strong contender for a comeback victory. Recent performances include Ben McDermott’s consistent scoring sprees and key players like Tim Seifert anchoring the Renegades’ batting line-up. The Hurricanes maintain a slight edge in recent head-to-head encounters, winning three of the last five clashes. Expert predictions lean towards a Hurricanes victory with standout performances expected from Ben McDermott.

Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes Predictions

The Renegades are two-for-two at the start of their campaign, while the defending champs the Hurricanes followed up their opening win with an eight-wicket loss to the Stars. The Hurricanes have a strong squad, so I’m backing them to bounce back with a win.

  • Hurricanes’ Ben McDermott has scored 44, 43*, 38 & 69 in his last 4 innings.
  • Hurricanes’ Ben McDermott scored 31 off 31 balls against the Stars
  • Renegades’ Tim Seifert hit 15 boundaries in his 102 against the Heat.
  • Renegades’ Oliver Peake hit three sixes in his 29-ball 57 against the Heat.

Head-to-Head

The Hurricanes have won three and lost two of their last five Big Bash matches against the Renegades. The Hurricanes won their last match by four wickets with two balls in hand.

Melbourne Renegades Form

The Renegades followed their opening three-wicket win with another close call when they beat the Heat by 14 runs.

The Renegades’ power-packed top–order was in a spot of trouble before Tim Seifert played an explosive innings of 102 off 56 balls, with 15 boundaries. Mohammad Rizwan, Fraser McGurk and Josh Brown had failed to fire, but Oliver Peake partnered Seifert in a 115-run stand for the fourth wicket to take their side comfortably past 200.

Jason Behrendorff (2/34), Gurinder Sandhu (2/35) and Will Sutherland (3/33) were all on song with the ball, bowling their quota at under nine to the over to keep the Heat to under 200 to secure the win.

Hobart Hurricanes Form

After winning their opener by four wickets with one ball in hand, the Hurricanes lost in their second match by eight wickets to the Stars.

The Hurricanes’ top-order were found wanting by the Stars attack, slipping to 36/3 in the sixth over before Ben McDermott (69 off 52) and Tim David (31 off 31) righted the innings but failed to push on. The lower order fell away quickly as they ended their 20 overs on 158/9.

Rishad Hossain (2/33) picked off both openers to give his side hope at 58/2 in the 8th over, but the rest of the attack failed to restrain the Stars, who raced to the win off 16 overs.
