Bangladesh vs Pakistan 3rd ODI Predictions - Pakistan to complete series win with another big batting performance

Editor
Last updated: 1 hour ago

In a thrilling ODI series against Bangladesh, Pakistan's youthful team rebounded strongly after losing the first match, claiming a significant victory in the second ODI to level the series. Key contributions came from Maaz Sadaqat, who scored an impressive 75 runs, and Salman Agha, who added a robust 64 runs. Pakistan's potent bowling attack, led by Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, dismantled Bangladesh for just 114 in a rain-affected chase. With Pakistan appearing in top form, Bangladesh must address their batting flaws to pose a challenge in the decider.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan Predictions

Pakistan’s revamped and inexperienced squad bounced from their defeat in the 1st ODI by claiming a big win over Bangladesh in the 2nd ODI to level the series. The visitors look far too strong for Bangladesh and I’m backing them to take the series.

  • Pakistan’s Maaz Sadaqat has scored 32, 53, 18 & 75 in his last 5 innings.
  • Pakistan’s  Salman Agha hit 2 sixes in his 62-ball 64 against in the 2nd ODI.
  • Bangladesh’s Litton Das has scored 55* & 41 in his last 3 innings.
  • Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy has scored 33, 102, 96 & 28 in his last 4 innings.

Head-to-Head

Pakistan have won three and lost one of their last five ODIs against Bangladesh. One match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Bangladesh Form

After clinching back-to-back ODI wins against West Indies and then Pakistan, Bangladesh collapsed in the 2nd ODI against Pakistan, losing by 128 runs on the DLS method.

Rishad Hossain followed up figures of 3/65 and 2/49 by taking 3/56 as Pakistan racked up 274. Mehidy Hasan Miraz knocked over two of Pakistan's top four batters in returning figures of 2/34 (econ 3.40).

Chasing a rain-reduced target of 243 off just 32 overs, Bangladesh lost their first three wickets for 15 runs before Litton Das (41 off 33) and Towhid Hridoy (28 off 38) got the chase back on track briefly. Bangladesh lost their last seven wickets for 41 runs to lose by 128 runs.

Pakistan Form

Pakistan bounced back from an 8-wicket defeat in the 1st ODI by beating Bangladesh in the 2nd ODI to make it 4 wins in their last 5 ODIs.

Sahibzada Farhan (31 off 46) and Maaz Sadaqat (75 off 46) got the innings off to a great start, adding 103 for the 1st wicket in 13 overs. Mohammad Rizwan played himself back into form with a 59-ball 44, sharing a 4th-wicket stand of 109 with Salman Agha (64 off 62 balls) as Pakistan posted 274 off 47.3 overs.

Pakistan bowled Bangladesh out for 114 after their innings was reduced to 32 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi (2/22) knocked over two of Bangladesh’s top three batters as they slipped to 15/3 in the 5th over. Haris Rauf (3/26) and Maaz Sadaqat (3/23) ran through the rest of the Bangladesh batters.

Bangladesh vs Pakistan Team News

Pakistan skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi was delighted that his side had squared the series after their win in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh.

“The last game didn't go our way. The simple message was to go and play your natural game. I think the pitch was helpful for fast bowlers, that's why we played four of them and they bowled well too, so I’m really happy. We lost wickets in the middle overs, we need to improve that,” said Afridi in his post-match interview.

Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz rued his side’s inability to crack open the Pakistan top-order as they had done in the 1st ODI.

“We didn't execute well in the first 10 overs, which we did the last time. It's a very good wicket to bat on but our top-order batters didn't get many runs. We have to improve our batting and need to take more responsibility,” said Miraz in the post-match presentation.

Bangladesh (possible XI): Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das (wk), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (capt), Towhid Hridoy, Afif Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Nahid Rana.

Pakistan (possible XI): Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat, Shamyl Hussain, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Salman Agha, Hussain Talat, Abdul Samad, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi (capt), Mohammad Wasim Jr, Haris Rauf.

Verdict

I am backing Pakistan to win, with Maaz Sadaqat to top score.

Litton Das is a good bet to score over 33.5 runs for Bangladesh.
