Joburg Super Kings vs Durban's Super Giants Predictions - Rossouw to rough up the Super Giants

Joburg Super Kings have won three and lost two of their last five SA20 matches against Durban’s Super Giants.

Joburg Super Kings made it two wins from their first two matches of the SA20 season when they beat the Super Giants by 6 wickets.

Rilee Rossouw is the Super Kings’ leading run-scorer and showed great skill in putting together a score of 43 off 32 balls on a tough Kingsmead pitch that everyone else battled on. His 91 runs for the season (ave 45.5) have come at a strike-rate of 140.00.

All-rounder Wiaan Mulder scored a solid 44 runs in the Super Kings’ opening match and has added great value with the ball, picking up two wickets at an average of 18.5 (econ 5.28). Richard Gleeson has been the Super Kings’ star with the ball, snaring five wickets in their first two games (7.00, econ 5.67).

After a great win in their opening match, the Super Giants were frustrated with a rained-out return match against MI Cape Town, followed by a heavy defeat to the Super Kings on a tough Kingsmead track.

Devon Conway brought his brilliant form from New Zealand’s Tests against the West Indies into the SA20, smacking 92 runs (ave 46.00) at an incredible strike-rate of 184.00. Aiden Markram and Kane Williamson made good starts in the first match against MI Cape Town - as did Evan Jones - but they will need to start putting scores together for their side.

Eathan Bosch has taken five wickets (ave 12.20) as a strike-rate of a wicket every 6.4 balls. Simon Harmer has kept his end tight, bowling at an economy rate of 6.16 and picking up two wickets at an average of 18.50. 

Joburg Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis was a happy man after his side’s second win on the bounce. "It was nice to know what you're chasing but it certainly wasn't easy batting in the second innings. Scrappy win, bonus point, so we’re very happy. Both Conway and Williamson are timers of the ball and want pace on the ball, so I thought I'll throw something at them to stop them. Subrayen in his first game on his home ground was our plan. Finger spinners get a lot of turn on tacky surfaces," said De Villiers.

Durban’s Super Giants skipper captain Markram admitted that he and his team read the wicket “horribly wrong. Looked good to the eye. Played nicely couple of days ago, but we were caught off guard. They put the balls in the right areas. Quite a few runs short tonight. A score of 120-plus would've had us in the game and we could've put up a nice fight, but I’m proud of our bowling effort,” said Markram.
