Pretoria Capitals vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape Predictions

The Capitals started with two defeats before handing MI Cape Town an 85-run hammering. With home ground advantage they should have the beating of their visitors. The Sunrisers’ winning streak was ended by the Royals after a thrilling run chase, but they showed superb form in their first two matches, so I'm backing them to out-muscle the Capitals.

  • Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s Jordan Hermann has scored 74, 134, 62*, 37 & 47 in his last five innings.
  • Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s Quinton de Kock has scored 40-plus in 3 of his last 4 innings.
  • Pretoria Capitals’ Shai Hope scored 45 off 30 balls against MI Cape Town.
  • Pretoria Capitals’ Sherfane Rutherford has scored 44, 25 & 47* in his last 3 innings.

Head-to-Head

The Sunrisers have won three and lost two of their last five SA20 matches against Pretoria Capitals.

Pretoria Capitals Form

Pretoria Capitals beat MI Cape Town by 85 runs to secure their first win of the season. Their next match was rained out.

Big-hitting pair Sherfane Rutherford and Shai Hope have been the Capitals’ batting stars this season. Rutherford hammered 47* off 15 balls and took 4/24 against MI Cape Town. Will Smeed, Bryce Parsons and Wihan Lubbe have all weighed in with useful runs.

Tymal Mills has taken five wickets in the SA20 at an average of 15.00 and an economy rate of 7.25. Keshav Maharaj played a key role in the win over MI Cape Town, taking 3/28. Lizaad Williams has been in good form with the ball, Lungi Ngidi has taken a bit of stick as he looks to find his best form.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape Form

The Sunrisers missed out on three straight wins to start the season by allowing the Royals to pull off a win after they were staring defeat in the face. Their next match was rained out.

Jordan Hermann and Quinton de Kock have both enjoyed great form with the bat. Matthew Breetzke’s superb white-ball form of the last two years has continued into the SA20, putting together scores of 52 and 31. Jonny Bairstow has helped at the top of the innings with scores of 31 and 33, but Tristan Stubbs’ top score this season is 17 and, having just missed out on World Cup selection, he is likely to come out firing.

Anrich Nortje destroyed the Royals in their opening match with figures of 4/13 and followed that with 2/21 against the Royals in their home defeat. Adam Milne put in brilliant spells of 2/7 and 4/25 in the victories over the Royals and the Capitals. Marco Jansen has shown his maturity by bowling at an economy rate of 6.11 runs per over.

Pretoria Capitals vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape Team News

Pretoria Capitals skipper Keshav Maharaj was relieved that his side were able to secure their first win of the season when they beat MI Cape Town: "After two disappointing losses where it felt like we only played half a game well, seeing a clinical performance like this is very encouraging. Hopefully, we can carry this momentum into our home games at SuperSport Park," said Maharaj.
