England vs India T20 Cricket World Cup semi-final Predictions - Samson to power India into the final

In a highly anticipated T20I match, India appears to have the upper hand against England. Both teams boast strong records, having lost just one of their last seven matches each. However, India's consistent top-order performance, led by Sanju Samson's recent stellar form, positions them as favorites. England's Adil Rashid and Harry Brook are players to watch, given their impactful contributions in the tournament. With no injuries reported, India is poised to make strategic squad considerations to further strengthen their lineup.

England vs India Predictions


England have had a strong run in the competition, losing just once in their seven matches to date. India have the same record as England, but their loss came to one of the tournament favourites, South Africa. England's top order has been lacking consistency, while India's top-order batters have all been contributing with substantial runs, which is why I'm backing them to beat England to make it through to their second final in a row.

England Form


After losing to the West Indies in their second match of the tournament, England made it five wins from their next five matches, beating New Zealand by four wickets in their last match in the Super 8s.

Adil Rashid has been one of the stars for England in this World Cup, and he followed up figures of 3/36, 2/13 and 1/31 with a superb display of bowling to take 2/28 against New Zealand in England’s last match in the Super 8s. Rashid took two of New Zealand’s top five batters as they struggled to 133/5 off 16.4 overs.

Will Jacks followed up figures of 3/22 against Sri Lanka by taking 2/23 in the win over New Zealand. Jacks stepped in to take England over the line with 32* off 18 balls, a match-winning innings which came on the back of innings of 53*, 21 and 28 in his past three innings.

Tom Banton weighed in with 33 off 24 balls, with 20s coming from Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell and Sam Curran as England scraped home for a four-wicket win in the last over.

India Form


India suffered their first loss in the tournament against South Africa in their first match in the Super 8s. They won their next two matches, with a five-wicket win over the West Indies in their last match of the Super 8 to book their spot in the semi-final.

The West Indies top-order all fired as they posted 195/4 off their 20 overs. Axar Patel (0/35, econ 8.75) was the most economical bowler, while Jasprit Bumrah did the most damage with the ball, picking up 2/26 (econ 9.0) by knocking over two of the West Indies’ top three batters. 

Sanju Samson played a masterful innings of 97* off 50 balls to guide India to the win with four balls to spare. Tilak Varma (27 off 15) was the only other Indian batter to reach 20.

England vs India Team News & Squads


England captain Harry Brook had high praise for his opponents while speaking at the post-match press conference after his side's five-wicket win over the West Indies.

"Very strong side - we played against them before Christmas and they do everything so well, running between wickets and then some extreme power," said Brook, who expressed his support for England batter Jos Buttler who has been struggling for runs. 

"He's played 150 games for England and people need to take a step back from that. He's in a rut now but that's an exciting thing, to know what he could produce in the next couple of games. He's a phenomenal player and I've got no doubts about him," added Brook. 

Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav had high praise for opening batter Sanju Samson, who was his side's match-winner against the West Indies. 

"I always say good things happen to good people who wait and who have a lot of patience. All his hard work, what he has been doing behind the doors when he hasn't been playing… he has got the fruits for it at the perfect stage," said Yadav.

"I feel everyone bowled according to plans. We knew 200 is always a good score to chase here with the dew and the ball coming on nicely. And the way the batters responded later on with small small partnerships, that was the key," added Yadav.

Verdict
