India have a number of injury issues in addition to concerns over their top order, but they shouldn’t have any problems overcoming a Namibian side that is resolute but short of depth.

India continued their fine form in T20 cricket, following their 4-1 series victory over New Zealand by beating the USA by 29 runs, although it needed a captain’s innings to rescue the hosts after a disastrous start to the match.
Suryakumar Yadav played a truly great T20 captain’s innings to rescue his side from 46/4. Yadav slammed four sixes and 10 fours in a scintillating 49-ball 84* that lifted India to a respectable 161/9 off their 20 overs. Tilak Varma kept the runs flowing with a 16-ball innings of 25 that included three fours and a six.
Mohammed Siraj (3/29, econ 7.25) knocked over both US openers to leave them reeling at 13/3. The US recovered enough to post 132/8 off their 20 overs, with Arshdeep Singh (2/18, econ 4.50) and Axar Patel (2/24, econ 6.00) producing superb spells of bowling to shut out the challenge from the USA.
Namibia Form
Namibia beat Scotland before being handed a 130-run defeat by India A in their two warm-up matches. They then lost their opening match in the World Cup against the Netherlands by seven wickets.
Jan Frylinck (30 off 26) and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton (42 off 38) took Namibia to 60/1 after nine overs. Gerhard Erasmus (18 off 9) and JJ Smit (22 off 15) added some quick runs, but Namibia’s lower middle-order battled their way to 156/8 against the strong Netherlands attack.
Ruben Trumpelmann picked up one of the two Netherlands wickets to fall, finishing with figures of 1/30 on the back of returns of 2/9, 3/3 and 2/44 in his previous four matches. Bernard Scholtz kept his end tight while picking up 1/27 (econ 6.75).

India have major injury problems, with Jasprit Bumrah, Abhishek Sharma and Washington Sundar all struggling to pass their fitness tests ahead of the clash with Namibia.
India skipper Suryakumar Yadav admitted in the post-match interview that he was relieved to bat through the innings to rescue his side after their top-order collapse. “I knew if I bat till the end I can make a difference. It was a different wicket but we knew there was not a lot of sun outside to have the pitch rolled and watered,” said Yadav.
“We need to bat much better but after winning you get to learn a lot of things. We could have batted better and smarter, and one or two partnerships could have gotten us to 160 more easily. Bumrah was having fever, Abhishek was also under the weather and Washington will join us in Delhi,” added Yadav.
Namibia’s young paceman Max Heingo (17) sent down two expensive overs against the Netherlands. Talk in the Namibia camp is that Heingo could make way for the more experienced bowler Ben Shikongo.
After their opening loss to the Netherlands, Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus was happy that his side had put together a decent performance, despite suffering a seven-wicket loss. "I thought we did reasonably well early on. The wicket was quite tacky at the start of the morning, so being 40/1 was a bit low on runs but good for assessing where we were in the game. I thought we did a decent job up until the halfway mark, but we couldn't quite push that total deep enough,” said Erasmus.
