West Indies vs Scotland Predictions

The West Indies have lost three of their last five T20Is against South Africa and Afghanistan, but their batters and bowlers have been performing well. Scotland have lost their last two competitive matches against Italy and Jersey, so the West Indies should prove far too strong for the Scots.

  • West Indies’ Shimron Hetmyer has scored 48, 75 & 48* in his last 3 innings.
  • West Indies’ Brandon King has scored 50, 47, 27 & 49 in his last 5 innings.
  • Scotland’s Brandon McMullen hit 8 sixes in his innings of 95 against Namibia.
  • Scotland’s Richie Berrington scored 46 off 26 balls against Namibia.

Head-to-Head

Scotland won the only previous meeting between the two teams in T20Is by 42 runs.

West Indies Form

After losing back-to-back T20Is against South Africa, the West Indies enjoyed a morale-boosting win in the 3rd and final match of the series.

Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King and Shai Hope have all been in great form with the bat. Sherfane Rutherford enjoyed a brilliant season in the SA20, scoring 42*, 53, 29 and 74* in his last six innings, before scoring 57* off 24 balls in the 2nd T20I against South Africa.

Matthew Forde has struggled to impose himself on opposition batters, but he blasted 52* off 26 balls against Afghanistan Akeal Hosein took 2/41 and 1/25 against South Africa. Gudakesh Motie took 1/29 against Afghanistan and 3/17 against South Africa.

Scotland Form

Scotland suffered a 61-run defeat against Afghanistan before bouncing back against Namibia, scoring 220/5 in a thrilling 6-run defeat.

Brandon McMullen has scored 64*, 20 and 95 in his last six innings. George Munsey scored 84* against Canada and 59 against Namibia in August and September but has been short of runs since then.

Michael Leask scored 46 and 26* against Nepal and 46 against the Netherlands in June but has also been short of runs since then. Leask has taken 50 wickets in T20Is at an economy rate of 7.56. Mark Watt took 2/32 against Afghanistan and 1/19 against Namibia, as well as scoring 39, 59 and 33 in his last five innings.

West Indies vs Scotland Team News & Squads

West Indies captain Shai Hope was delighted that his side won the final match of their T20I series against South Africa. “It was great to see the fightback. Chasing a target is advantageous. We gave ourselves a chance. It was challenging stopping and starting. Good to see the guys take on the challenge. Good to see Hetmyer back among the runs and the bowlers hit their straps. Was happy to see us hitting our straps and we just have to continue from here,” said Hope.

West Indies (possible XI): Shai Hope (c), Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, Rovman Powell, Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie and Jayden Seales.

Scotland (possible XI): George Munsey, Matthew Cross, Brandon McMullen, Richie Berrington (c), Tom Bruce, Michael Leask, Mark Watt, Chris Greaves, Safyaan Sharif, Bradley Currie and Bradley Wheal.

Verdict

I am backing the West Indies to win. I am also backing Shimron Hetmyer to top score for West Indies.

Brandon McMullen is a good bet to top score for Scotland.
