Afghanistan put on a powerful display of T20 cricket to dominate the 1st T20I against the West Indies. With some of their best players not available for this series, I can’t see the West Indies beating Afghanistan in any of the three matches in the series.

Afghanistan swept to their fifth consecutive T20I victory when they saw off the West Indies to the tune of 38 runs in the 1st T20I in Dubai.

Afghanistan recovered from 19/2 to post 181/3 off their 20 overs thanks to a 162-run stand for the third wicket. Ibrahim Zadran continued his strong form by scoring an undefeated 87 off 56 balls (S/R 155.35). He was partnered by Darwish Rasooli, who fell off the final ball of the innings after scoring 84 off 59 balls (S/R 142.37).

Afghanistan’s strong bowling attack was too powerful for the West Indies batters, who managed to squeeze out just 143 runs off their 20 overs. Rashid Khan knocked over two of the West Indies’ top five batters in returning figures of 2/19 (econ 4.75). Noor Ahmed and Mujeeb Ur Rahman both also picked up two wickets, while Ziaur Rahman was the leading wicket-taker (3/36) in the innings.
