Head-to-Head

India have won the last five T20Is between the two sides.

India Form

India beat New Zealand by eight wickets to take a winning 3-0 lead in their five-match T20I series. It was India’s fourth win in a row after their rained-out match against South Africa mid-December.

Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma have been leading from the front with the bat and have been key to the series win. Hardik Pandya has been in great form with bat and ball in his last five matches, scoring 133, 75 and 25 in his only three innings. With the ball he has picked up 3/66, 1/20, 1/25 and 2/23.

Ravi Bishnoi has taken 3/64, 2/18 and scored 31* and 30 in his last four matches. Jasprit Bumrah played a key role in the victory over New Zealand in the 3rd T20I, taking 3/17  on the back of figures of 2/17, 2/17 and 0/29 in his previous four T20Is.

New Zealand Form

New Zealand suffered a third defeat on the bounce when they went down to India by eight wickets in the 3rd T20I of their five-match series.

New Zealand’s top-order once again failed to fire in the 3rd T20I, with Glenn Phillips top-scoring with 48 off 40 balls. Phillips is the only New Zealand batter to pass 50 in the series, scoring 78 off 40 balls in the 1st T20I.

Ish Sodhi has picked up 1/38, 1/34 and 1/28, while Matt Henry has only played in the last two matches, taking 1/41 and 1/28.  Jacob Duffy is the only New Zealand bowler to keep his figures under 10 runs to the over in the series, taking 2/27 (econ 6/75) in the 1st T20I and 1/38 (econ 9.50) in the second match. He went for 38 off his two overs in the 3rd T20I.

India vs New Zealand Team News & Squads

After going down 3-0 in the five-match T20I series against India, New Zealand have released Kristian Clarke and Tim Robinson, with Jimmy Neeshan and Lockie Ferguson joining the squad for the 4th T20I and Finn Allen arriving in time for the 5th and final match.

Bowling coach Jacob Oram was confident his side could put aside the frustration of conceding the series to India with two matches still to play. "If we win these two games that would be nice for the overall team confidence - to win games is nice. I think we have an ability to stay calm amidst the storm that is currently happening and I think that is part and parcel of who we are as a team and probably as New Zealanders as well. We don't get too high or low and we know we're not playing as well as we can,” said Oram.

The BCCI have announced in a statement that Tilak Varma has "resumed physical training and is making steady progress with his rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru,” adding that he has not yet regained full match fitness following a recent surgery.

India squad: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel (vice-capt), Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ishan Kishan, Ravi Bishnoi.
