Head-to-Head

New Zealand Women have won two and lost one of their last three T20Is against South Africa Women. The previous two matches were rained-off.

New Zealand Women Form

After going down to Australia 3-0 in their 3-match T20I series, New Zealand bounced back with a 3-0 series win over Zimbabwe.

New Zealand squeezed Zimbabwe to just 64/9 off their 20 overs. Jess Kerr took 2/6 and Nensi Patel 3/8. Isabella Gaze scored 38* off 20 balls as they raced to a 10-wicket win off 5.4 overs.

New Zealand had secured the series after winning the 2nd T20I by 110 runs. Isabella Gaze (85* off 54) and Amelia Kerr (82 off 52) put on 163 for the 1st wicket. They ended their 20 overs on 196/1.

The White Ferns rolled Zimbabwe for 86 off 18.3 overs, with Jess Kerr, Nensi Patel and Kayley Knight each taking 2 wickets.

South Africa Women Form

After winning 4 T20Is on the bounce, South Africa Women went down to Pakistan Women by 53 runs in the final match of their series. The Proteas clinched the series 2-1 despite the defeat.

In a low-scoring match in Benoni, South Africa restricted Pakistan to 144/7 off their 20 overs. Masabata Klaas (1/32), Ayabonga Khaka (1/26) and Nonkululeko Mlaba (1/22) picked up the only wickets to fall to bowlers, with the other four batters all being run out.

The Proteas lost their first four batters for 30 runs inside the first 5 overs. Nadine de Klerk (27 off 30) and Annerie Dercksen (30 off 38) did their best to get the Proteas back on track, but they lost their last 4 wickets for 5 runs to go down to Pakistan by 53 runs.

Annerie Dercksen has hit 24 sixes in 36 whiteball innings, including 6 in her last 2 knocks for South Africa.

New Zealand vs South Africa Women Team News & Squads

Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates and Lea Tahuhu have all returned to the squad, while Georgia Plimmer and Flora Devonshire have recovered from injuries.

"We're really excited to welcome back Suzie and Sophie for this next block of games. Their quality on the field really does speak for itself but what they bring to the group culturally is really important for us as a team. I'm looking forward to having them mix in with some of the newer members of the squad," said New Zealand head coach Ben Sawyer at a pre-tour press conference.

Proteas allrounder Kayla Reyneke has been called up to the touring squad to replace Marizanne Kapp, who is still suffering from illness. Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas and Dané van Niekerk all return to the ODI side after sitting out the series against Pakistan.

"Touring New Zealand always presents unique challenges. The conditions require adaptability, especially when playing across multiple venues where the surfaces and weather can differ. We must adjust quickly, apply ourselves and maintain the standards we have set as a team,” said head coach Mandla Mashimbyi at a press conference ahead of the tour.

"This tour gives us another valuable opportunity to test our combinations, deepen our squad and continue evolving our brand of cricket against quality opposition," added Mashimbyi.

New Zealand squad: Amelia Kerr (c), Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Flora Devonshire, Isabella Gaze, Maddy Green, Brooke Halliday, Bree Illing, Polly Inglis, Jess Kerr, Rosemary Mair, Nensi Patel, Georgia Plimmer, Izzy Sharp, Lea Tahuhu.

South Africa squad: Laura Wolvaardt (c), Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, Annerie Dercksen, Ayanda Hlubi, Sinalo Jafta, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Suné Luus, Karabo Meso, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Kayla Reyneke, Tumi Sekhukhune, Chloé Tryon, Dané van Niekerk.
