Oval Invincibles vs Southern Brave Predictions
The Invincibles are the defending champs, while the Brave won the inaugural Hundred back in 2021. Their record this season is similar, with the Invincibles claiming just one win more than the Brave, which was the group match between the sides which the Invincibles won with ease. This could be a really close match, but my vote goes in favour of the Invincibles.
- Oval Invincibles’ Jordan Cox has scored 46*, 61* & 39 in his last 3 innings.
- Oval Invincibles’ Dawid Malan has scored 38, 29* & 53* in his last 5 innings.
- Southern Brave’s James Vince has scored 73*, 52, 28, 19 & 43 in his last 5 innings.
- Southern Brave’s Kieron Pollard hit five sixes in his 23-ball innings of 45 against the Rockets.
Head-to-Head
The Brave won the first match between the side in The Hundred, but the Invincibles won the next three matches, including their group match 10 days ago.
Oval Invincibles Form
The Invincibles’ four-match winning streak was broken in their last group match, when they lost to the Rockets by six wickets with one over remaining.
The Invincibles would have been expecting to end their group stage with another win after their batters posted 150/3 off their 100 balls, with Dawid Malan top-scoring with 53* off 43 balls.
When Nathan Sowter (1/18) knocked over Joe Root, the Rockets were reeling at 56/3 off 48 balls and all but out of the match, but a blitzkrieg attack by Tom Alsop and Rovman Powell ripped the match away from the Invincibles in dramatic fashion.
Oval Invincibles Team News
The Invincibles have been in superb form all season and, with Adam Zampa, the Currans and their superb top order, they have to be favourites to take a second title in two years.
Southern Brave Form
After beating the Rockets by two wickets with just one ball to spare, the Brave’s match against the Fire was rained out, after which they tied the Eliminator with the Phoenix before winning the five-ball shootout to claim their spot in the final.
The Brave would have been hoping for more than the 126/6 they knocked up after their 100 balls. Skipper James Vince again top-scored with 43 off 35 balls to keep his side in the hunt for a win.
The Brave struggled early on but caught up to tie the score after their 100 balls, Tymal Mills taking 3/23. The Phoenix lost a wicket off the first ball of their Super Five and could only scrape together seven runs off their five balls. The Brave raced to 11/0 off four balls to book their final spot.
Southern Brave Team News
The Brave are in good form and are unlikely to make any changes to their team. A lot will depend on their star batter, James Vince, who is the leading run scorer in The Hundred with 400 runs at an average of 57.14.
Verdict
I am backing Oval Invincibles to win. I am also backing Jordan Cox to top score for Oval Invincibles.
James Vince is a good bet to top score for the Southern Brave.
