The Pumas are on a winning streak against the Griquas and have moved up the Currie Cup standings after a run of results. The Griquas are the league leaders but have struggled to beat the Pumas in recent seasons.

The Pumas recorded their third consecutive victory of the season last weekend, beating the Stormers XXIII 29-7 at home after leading 16-0 at half-time.

Before that result, the Pumas lost 26-24 at home to the Sharks in their opening match of the season and 52-29 to the Lions away from home before beating Boland 20-15 away and the Bulls 33-31 away. 

The team from Mpumalanga are third in the Carling Currie Cup standings with 17 points after five rounds. 

The Airlink Pumas have found some form lately, winning three in a row, and have had success against the Griquas at home recently, recording three consecutive victories, giving them the edge needed to come out on top. 

Griquas Form 


The Griquas secured their fourth win in a row in this edition of the Currie Cup last weekend, thrashing the Sharks 55-21 at home after leading 26-21 at the break.

Earlier in their campaign, the defending champions lost 25-19 to the Stormers XXIII away from home in their season opener before thumping the Bulls 56-26, beating the Cheetahs 24-21, and defeating the Lions 31-19 at home, respectively. 

The Suzuki Griquas are first in the Currie Cup table with 21 points from five matches.

The Griquas have been performing well, but they have had no success against the Pumas in recent clashes, losing six in a row to their hosts, including by 21 points last season.

Thomas Bursey, Banie Britz, Jan-Henning Campher, and JJ Scheeper each crossed the try line against the Stormers XXIII last weekend.

Nevaldo Fleurs slotted three conversions and a penalty in the match.

Griquas

Dylan Maart and Tiaan Lange each scored a hat-trick against the Sharks last weekend. 

Janus Venter and Bobby Alexander each scored a try in the match.

George Whitehead and Liam Koen landed two conversions each.
