Floral Kingdom is a 3-yr-old bay filly with three third-place finishes in her first five runs. Floral Kingdom debuted in March this year with a sixth place finish before a change of owner brought about three third place finishes, all at Greyville.

Her last race at the start of August saw her place fourth at Scottsville where she showed her staying power after a bad break from the gate. An import from Australia, she looks worth backing to claim a maiden title. Challenges look most likely to come from Cuba Libre, Xiphos and Prince of Rabada.

Race 3 – Maphaka (5)

Trainer: Dean Kannemeyer

Trainer Dean Kannemeyer will be looking for his 5-yr-old bay gelding Maphaka to add to his three career wins from his 17 starts. In total Maphaka has nine Top 3 finishes and has hit the Top 3 in eight of his last 11 runs, with his last four outings yielding results of 1-4-2-1.

Maphaka ran a powerful last race at Greyville on 7 August to neck it under lights. He will have to hold off strong opposition from De Vlugge, Future Flo and Masterofthedesert.

Sesame will have a tough time holding off the strong competition from No Pressure, Queue Wing and Hodgepodge, but she has the strength and form to take it by a length.

The 5-yr-old bay mare has 11 Top 3 placings from 21 starts, including five wins. Sesame has had a great run from December last year, with finishes of 3-2-1-6-1-2-8-8-4-1-1, so she looks a good one to back for a hat-trick of wins.

Race 7 – Got The Word (8)

Jockey: Dezahn Louw

Trainer: G. B. Puller

The 5-yr-old bay gelding Got The Word has had 35 days away from the track after a second place earned from a superb late burst from way back in the pack.

Got The Word’s only win came back in October 2024 and ran scrappily until hitting a decent run in March 2026, placing 5-2-4-4-2 ahead of Friday at Greyville. Arilena, Heaven’s Will and Mountainsofthemoon look likely to be hot on Got The Word’s tail at the tape.
