This article previews four Premier League Round 8 fixtures, highlighting expected game dynamics and potential outcomes. Manchester City are tipped to face a tough challenge at Aston Villa, with over 3.5 goals forecast. Arsenal’s clash with Everton is likely to be tightly contested, with under 2.5 goals recommended. Coventry’s match against Fulham could be settled by a single opportunity, again favouring under 2.5 goals. Chelsea are tipped to overcome Tottenham in an open London derby, also with over 3.5 goals forecasted.

English Premier League Predictions - Round 8

Aston Villa vs Manchester City

Manchester City arrive at Villa Park with seven wins from seven Premier League outings, but Aston Villa have enough quality to turn this into an awkward afternoon for the leaders who tend to be leaky at the back. City were made to work hard for their 3-2 home victory over Ipswich last weekend, while Villa earned a valuable 1-0 win at Newcastle.

Erling Haaland remains the obvious City scoring threat and his presence could force Villa to defend deeper than they would like. The hosts will still seek opportunities on the break. City's flawless domestic record points towards an away win, but the most appealing higher-priced angle is a match featuring at least four goals.

Arsenal vs Everton

Arsenal return to the Emirates after squeezing past Nottingham Forest 1-0 for a win that kept them within three points of leaders Manchester City. Everton are searching for a point-heavy response after suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to Chelsea. Arsenal's disciplined defence and ability to control possession should make them favourites, although the visitors have shown that they can frustrate stronger opponents.

With Arsenal also managing the demands of a heavy European schedule this could develop into a cautious and strategic battle rather than an open shootout. The home win is very short in the market which makes under 2.5 goals a better option to  back providing Everton can hold their defensive line.

Coventry vs Fulham

Coventry return home hoping to repair the damage from their 3-1 defeat at Tottenham which  was a setback in a campaign that has featured both promising victories and costly defensive lapses. Fulham hit Coventry’s home turf after picking up an important 1-0 victory over Hull.

With neither side able to rely on consistent attacking forays the match could turn on a single chance or set piece. Fulham have the market's slight advantage but Coventry will feel they can collect points in front of their home crowd. The 2.05 quote for under 2.5 goals is attractive in a game where avoiding another defeat may matter more than taking adventurous risks.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea welcome Spurs to the Bridge after an important 2-0 over a dogged Everton which was yet another sign of their attacking potential under Xabi Alonso. Joao Pedro has been among the Blues' most influential contributors this season, combining goals with creative passing.

Spurs fans had a massive relief after picking up their first league win of the season by downing Coventry 3-1 and they’ll be hoping that performance sparks an ongoing recovery. Their defensive record does however leave room for Chelsea to exploit spaces in transition, which makes it an interesting and open clash.

A London derby often produces momentum shifts and both teams have attacking weapons capable of turning chances into goals. Chelsea look the likelier winners, while over 3.5 goals offers possibly the more predictable outcome.

Verdict

I’m backing over 3.5 goals in the matches between Villa and City as well as Chelsea and Spurs, and under 2.5 goals in the Arsenal-Everton and Coventry-Fulham clashes.
