Pumas vs Griquas Tips - Pumas to avenge final defeat

These two sides met three times last season, including in the Currie Cup final. Pumas beat Griquas 26-19 in Kimberley but lost 45-44 at home. In the final Griquas won 41-20 at home.

The Pumas have made a good start as they look to better last season’s runner up finish. They have won their opening two matches and are currently second on the table.

On the opening weekend the Pumas thrashed the Bulls 63-15 away from home. It was followed by a 34-27 home win over the Lions in which they secured a four-try bonus point.

This will likely be their toughest fixture of the opening few rounds. It is a repeat of the Currie Cup final last year which Griquas won.

Barring late injuries, the Pumas are expected to be close to unchanged.

The 2022 Currie Cup champions have won one and lost one in the opening two rounds. They are fifth on the table.

In the first round Griquas lost 42-19 at home to the Cheetahs who are probably clear favourites for the title this season. Griquas did bounce back last week, beating the Sharks 48-40 in a cracking contest on home soil.

Griquas are not likely to make many changes to their side this week.
