Leinster are one of Europe’s finest sides and difficult to beat anywhere, particularly at home where their record is superb. The Bulls will put up a fight but this is a tough encounter to start so I’m backing Leinster to cover the -20 handicap.

Leinster are the most successful side in Pro14 history, now called the United Rugby Championship. They won the 2020/21 edition of the competition as well, winning 14 of their 16 group matches on their way to the final.

During the Rainbow Cup campaign, Leinster finished fourth behind Glasgow, Munster and Benetton. It must however be considered that Leinster fielded a weakened side during the competition but still managed three wins from their five matches.

The Irish outfit is stacked with international players and are heavy favourites to not only win here, but also win the United Rugby Championship.

Leinster are expected to welcome back Jonny Sexton to the starting lineup. The flyhalf has had some injury problems this year which meant he missed much of the international season.

Bulls Form

The Bulls come into the United Rugby Championship in superb form. They are by some distance the strongest South African side, particularly while the international players are unavailable due to the Rugby Championship.

The Pretoria based outfit have won the last two editions of the Currie Cup and also made the final of the Rainbow Cup earlier this year.

Jake White’s side destroyed the Sharks 44-10 in the Currie Cup final just weeks ago. That followed a 48-31 win over Western Province (Stormers) in the semi-final.

Bulls Team News

While this is the Bulls first foray into Europe, they have plenty of players with experience in these conditions, including coach Jake White.

Flyhalf Johan Goosen, has spent many years playing in France and will certainly be their trump card.

Leinster v Bulls

The Bulls lost by 25 points the last time they traveled to Europe. Leinster are much stronger than Benetton so I am backing the hosts to win by more than 20 points.
