The Brumbies are a very good outfit in home matches, with 20 wins in their last 22 fixtures on home soil. They also come into this clash off the back of a confidence-boosting victory over the Hurricanes last weekend. My best bet is for the Brumbies to lose by less than seven points - but do not rule out an upset.

The Highlanders have won five of their last eight matches against the Brumbies. They last met in the 2020 Super Rugby season where the Highlanders won 23-22 in Canberra.

The Brumbies are sixth on the Super Rugby trans-Tasman table and the highest placed Australian side. It has not been a good campaign for the Brumbies after a promising start where they lost 31-29 at the Crusaders.

That narrow defeat was followed by a 40-19 loss to the Chiefs and a 38-10 defeat to the Blues. All three of the Brumbies opening matches were played in New Zealand.

Upon their return to the GIO Stadium, the Brumbies beat the Hurricanes 12-10 last week. It was their 20th victory in their last 22 home matches.

The Brumbies welcome back Nic White, Irae Simone and Tom Wright into the starting lineup. They were all given a bit of a breather last week, but did feature from the bench.

Highlanders Form

The Highlanders currently occupy second place on the Super Rugby trans-Tasman table. They have won all four matches and sit below the Blues by a point and above the Crusaders on points difference.

In order to remain second and qualify for the final, the Highlanders will need to at least match the Crusaders result.

The Highlanders got their campaign underway with a 40-19 win over the Reds before beating the Western Force 25-15 in Perth in round two. That was followed by a 42-27 win over the Rebels at home.

Last week the Highlanders faced the Waratahs who have the weakest defence in the competition. They took full advantage by winning 59-23. The Brumbies in Canberra will however be their toughest test yet in the competition.

Highlanders Injuries & Team News

The big news for the Highlanders is the return of All Black scrumhalf, Aaron Smith. He missed last week’s encounter against the Waratahs as part of the All Black load management protocol.

There are no further changes to the Highlanders outfit.
