Morocco have named their final 25-man squad for the upcoming CAF Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.

Hakimi Selected

Morocco’s captain, Achraf Hakimi has been selected despite currently recovering from a serious ankle injury. The injury was sustained during Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League match on 4 November 2025 vs Bayern Munich.

Medical reports indicated a severe sprain, but he could return in time to feature in the AFCON knockout rounds. Head coach Walid Regragui has publicly stated confidence that Hakimi is making good progress and that his leadership is invaluable for team morale.

Ziyech Left Out

Hakim Ziyech and Sofiane Boufal are two of the major omissions. Ziyech, long considered a pillar of Morocco’s attacking creativity, has struggled with injuries and irregular club minutes. Boufal, meanwhile, has not fully regained his sharpness or form since returning from injury.

Versatile winger Ismael Saibari of PSV and 20-year-old Sunderland forward Chemsdine Talbi are both included.
