Senegal's head coach Pape Thiaw announced a 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Maintaining a lineup with no major surprises, the squad includes three Saudi Arabia-based players, featuring captain Sadio Mane. Notably, Strasbourg's defender Mamadou Sarr, previously committed to France, joined the squad. Additionally, six players from English clubs were selected, two on loan from Chelsea. Six under-21 players highlight the youthful prospects, including PSG's 17-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye. This balanced blend presents an exciting outlook for Senegal's campaign.

Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw has announced a 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

No Major Shocks

With the full allotment of 28 players called up, there have not been major omissions from the Lions of Teranga Squad.

There are three players based in Saudi Arabia, including captain Sadio Mane and key defender Kalidou Koulibaly. Strasbourg defender Mamadou Sarr is included after switching his international allegiance from France.

Six English-Based Players

Senegal have called up six players based in England. If we include Nicolas Jackson and Mamadou Sarr, who are both on loan from Chelsea, that number reaches eight players.

There are six players aged 21 or younger. One of those is PSG attacker Ibrahim Mbaye. He has played 29 matches for PSG at the age of just 17.
