Tanzania were outclassed in the World Cup qualifiers, finishing third in Group E, 14 points behind Morocco. Miguel Gamondi became the new manager in November, his first match in charge a 4-3 friendly defeat to Kuwait.

The Taifa Stars stated AFCON with a 2-1 loss against Nigeria. Charles M'Mombwa equalised shortly after half-time, but they couldn’t stop the Super Eagles and ended with 3-11 shots on target.

Simon Msuva’s second half penalty gave Tanzania the lead against Uganda but they couldn’t hold on. They allowed a late equaliser and were fortunate when Uganda’s Allan Okello missed a late penalty.

Tunisia cruisd through the World Cup qualifiers, finishing 13 points clear at the top of Group H. They won nine matches alongside one draw, scoring 22 goals with none conceded.

The Carthage Eagles started the Africa Cup of Nations with a confident 3-1 win against Uganda. They had 1.43-0.55 xG, Ellyes Skhiri scoring early before two goals to Elias Achouri established a 3-0 lead.

Sami Trabelsi’s side looked down and out against Nigeria after falling 3-0 behind. Montassar Talbi got a goal back and Ali Abdi’s penalty made a game of it, Ferjani Sassi missing a chance to equalise in added time.
