Zambia vs Morocco Predictions - Morocco can ease to victory

In an anticipated matchup, Morocco hosts Zambia with an impressive winning streak and historical advantage. Morocco, having won 15 of their last 19 matches, is favored to win comfortably in Rabat. Zambia, on the other hand, has struggled recently, failing to qualify for the World Cup and experiencing a managerial change. Despite an equalizer against Mali, their performance has been underwhelming. In contrast, Morocco's robust form suggests a high likelihood of victory, possibly securing a clean sheet, as they aim to progress to the Round of 16.

Zambia vs Morocco Predictions

Morocco are at home and in superb form while also dominating Zambia historically. I am backing the tournaments hosts to win comfortably.
  • Zambia have lost 9 of their last 12 matches.
  • Zambia have failed to score in 5 of their last 9 matches.
  • Morocco have won 15 of their last 19 matches.
  • Morocco have won to nil in 10 of their last 14 matches.

Head to Head

Morocco have won their last five matches against Zambia, the latest coming in September.

It was a 2026 World Cup qualifier, Morocco winning 2-0 in Ndola where Youssef En-Nesyri and Hamza Igamane found the net.

Zambia Form

Zambia never went close to qualifying for the World Cup, finishing fourth in group E. Avram Grant’s spell in charge came to an end in October.

Moses Sichone became the new boss and lost all three friendlies in charge. His side have stopped the slide at AFCON, Patson Daka equalising in added time to earn a 1-1 draw against Mali.

Chipolopolo failed to register a shot on target against Comoros but kept it tight and took a 0-0 draw. The result leaves them precariously placed in the race for a spot in the Round of 16.

Zambia Predicted Line Up

Zambia (4-2-3-1) Willard Mwanza; Matthews Banda, Benson Sakala, Dominic Chanda, Frankie Musonda; Owen Tembo, David Simukonda; Lameck Banda, Kings Kangwa, Fashion Sakala; Patson Daka

Morocco Form

Morocco qualified for the World Cup and backed up by winning the Arab Cup. They are unbeaten since August, winning 15 of their last 19 matches.

The Atlas Lions got off to a winning start at AFCON, beating Comoros 2-0 in Rabat. Soufiane Rahimi’s early penalty was saved before goals to Brahim Diaz and Ayoub El Kaabi got it done.

Another Diaz penalty gave Walid Regragui’s side a half-time lead against Mali. They conceded  a penalty of their own and ended the game on top, finishing with 15-5 shots and 2.82-0.91 xG.

Morocco Predicted Line Up & News

Morocco (4-3-3) Yassine Bounou; Noussair Mazraoui, Nayef Aguerd, Jawad El Yamiq, Anass Salah-Eddine; Neil El Aynaoui, Oussama Targhalline, Azzedine Ounahi; Brahim Diaz, Youssef En-Nesyri, Eliesse Ben Seghir

Romain Saiss picked up a hamstring injury against Comoros and was replaced by Jawad El Yamiq who should continue in central defence.

Achraf Hakimi continues to recover from an ankle injury, Regragui saying: "Achraf Hakimi is fully fit again after his injury. There is a strong chance he plays against Zambia to get rhythm before the knockouts."

Soufiane Rahimi and Ayoub El Kaabi have started up front with Youssef En-Nesyri set to start here.

Verdict

Morocco have a dominant record against Zambia and are deserved favourites in Rabat. I expect the Atlas Lions to win with a clean sheet and book their spot in the Round of 16.
