Kaizer Chiefs enjoyed a 3-1 home win over Congolese club AS Simba in the CAF Confederations Cup. Below are the player ratings for the Amakhosi starting XI and subs.

Brandon Petersen: 6

A quiet afternoon for the new Chiefs captain. He dealt well with efforts from distance and had no chance for the own-goal.

Dillan Solomons: 6
The speedy fullback defended strongly and got forward at every opportunity. A couple of wayward crosses denied him an assist.

Zitha Kwinika: 8

The veteran defender scored the second goal and had a fine game throughout. He guided his young partner through the game and dominated the aerial battle.

Aden McCarthy: 7

The young ball-playing defender had a few aerial issues, but largely defended well. His line-breaking passes added a different element to the team compared to the injured Inacio Miguel.

Bradley Cross: 7

The versatile defender has established himself as a trusted soldier. He kept his flank nice and quiet, whilst linking well like Glodi Lilepo.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa: 7

The man nicknamed “Ox” again had a strong game. He broke up play constantly and even made a few driving runs forward. His passing was typically wayward, though.

Nkosingiphile Ngcobo: 8

The diminutive midfielder excelled in the double pivot. His slide rule passes and press resistance allowed Chiefs to dominate the game.

Mfundo Vilakazi: 8

The young right winger set up the second and third goals with perfect deliveries from set-pieces. Although he was not constantly involved, his class and creativity shone through. He may have secured a starting place for himself with this outing.

Mduduzi Shabalala: 6

The number ten linked things together, without really having the influence of the forwards around him. His mobility helped to retain the ball in the final third.

Glodi Lilepo: 9 - Man of the Match

The Congolese winger had his best game of the season. After assisting the first goal, he headed home the third from a corner. He was a constant menace down the left, before an ankle injury ended his afternoon at the interval.

Etiosa Ighodaro : 7

The bulky Nigerian scored his first goal for the club. He held the ball up well and got a good 80 minutes of match fitness under his belt.

Substitutes:

Pule Mmodi: 6

A half-time change, the winger had some decent long-range strikes. He put the ball into the net but the flag was raised.

Asanele Velebayi: 6

The winger made his Chiefs debut down the right. He could the ball into the area as often and as early as possible.

George Matlou: 6

He came on to give a breather to Mthethwa. He was tidy and held the fort down well in a deeper role.

Lebohang Maboe: 6.5

The former Sundowns man made his debut after recovering from an injury. He immediately showed his class with some nice touches and passes.

Gaston Sirino: 6

The veteran did not have a huge impact on the game as Chiefs were protecting a lead.
