Botswana come into this final Group D match of the 2025 COSAFA Cup second on the table. They have a point to their name and simply must win to progress.

Coming into the Tournament, Botswana had a decent run of results, drawing 1-1 against Mauritania and Egypt in AFCON qualifiers late last year. They then lost 3-1 to Algeria in March during the World Cup qualifiers but bounced back to beat Somalia 2-0 a week later.

In their opening fixture at the COSAFA Cup, Botswana drew 0-0 against Comoros. There were few chances for either side in that game.

Zambia have had a lot of games cancelled in in 2024 due to warzones in various countries in Africa. In March, they played a friendly against Russia, losing 5-0. Up to this tournament, that was their only fixture this year.
