Last updated: 4 hours ago

With the upcoming football fixtures, Blackburn is predicted to seize three points against Sheffield Wednesday, furthering the latter's challenges. Meanwhile, Sheffield United is expected to secure a win against Portsmouth, potentially winning without conceding a goal. In another engaging match, Bristol City is tipped to narrowly beat Wrexham with a predicted score of 2-1. Lastly, Millwall's upcoming match is anticipated to be a high-scoring encounter with over 3.5 goals. These predictions suggest an intriguing weekend of football action.

Blackburn vs QPR

Blackburn have quietly caught fire, winning four of their last five in the league – including big away victories at Leicester, Bristol City and a derby success at Preston – to haul themselves away from the worst of the relegation chatter. QPR, by contrast, have just one win in five, with three defeats in that run and a worrying habit of conceding multiple goals, so they arrive with fragile confidence. With Ewood Park starting to feel like a much happier place, this looks like another narrow home win, with Rovers’ front line edging a lively game.

Millwall vs Sheffield Wednesday

Millwall sit just outside the play-off spots and, while their form line reads only one win in five, that gritty home victory over Leicester plus solid draws against Preston and Oxford suggest they still offer a very awkward night out at The Den. Sheffield Wednesday are rock bottom after a 12-point deduction, have taken only two points from their last five and are coming off a bruising 3-0 derby defeat. With that backdrop, Millwall’s home edge and Wednesday’s away frailty point strongly towards the Lions grinding out a workmanlike, no-frills win. The teams are averaging almost four goals a game in their last five meetings, so I’m looking for good odds on Total Match Goals.

Sheffield United vs Portsmouth

Sheffield United are still in the bottom three, but that 3-0 demolition of Wednesday finally gave their season a pulse after a run of three defeats and a draw in their previous four matches, reminding everyone there is attacking bite there if they can keep the back door shut. Portsmouth sit 19th with 17 points from 16 games and their recent record is just as patchy – one win in five (3-1 vs Millwall), a pair of painful losses at Birmingham and Hull and only a single clean sheet against Wrexham, where they also failed to score for the third time in their last five games. Both defences are leaky but the Blades will be buoyed by their derby day joy. Being back at Bramall Lane to entertain Pompey, this feels like another open contest that just tilts in United’s favour.

Wrexham vs Bristol City

Wrexham’s return to the Championship has stabilised nicely: they’re mid-table, unbeaten in six league games and come in off a gritty 0-0 at Ipswich, even if turning those draws into wins remains the big frustration. Bristol City are up in fourth, four points better off, and the numbers have them as one of the division’s strongest away sides, so a packed Racecourse Ground won’t scare them in the slightest. With Wrexham stubborn but City slick on the break, this has the look of a tight one where the visitors’ extra quality on the counter might just nick it late on.

Verdict

Blackburn to take the three points, while Sheffield Wednesday to suffer more pain.

Sheffield United to beat off a game Portsmouth, while Wrexham to be burgled by Bristol City.
