Mansfield vs Arsenal

Mansfield have had three good away wins in the FA Cup, but they are fighting for their survival in League One, while an in-form Arsenal have the quadruple in their sights.

Mansfield haven’t pulled in a win at home in their last five games, winning just two of their last 10 matches in all competitions, so home ground advantage should count for little more than scratching out a consolation goal.

With a Champions League journey to Germany ahead of them early next week, Arsenal will be resting some key players. They also have a number of injuries that will weaken their squad, but the fringe players will be desperate to fight for a permanent place as Arsenal close in on the ‘quad’, so this looks like a heavy defeat for the home side.

Wrexham vs Chelsea

Both sides are in good form domestically and are scoring plenty of goals. Wrexham are undefeated in their last five games, winning four of them while scoring 11 goals. They beat top-three Championship opponents Ipswich twice in their last two meetings, once in the Championship and once in the FA Cup.

Chelsea are playing like a true powerhouse, scoring 25 goals in their last 10 matches, winning six of those matches and drawing one. Their only defeats in their last 14 matches have come against the hottest side in England, Arsenal, so Championship side Wrexham could be in for a bruising on their way out of the Cup.

Newcastle vs Man City

City has a brilliant record against Newcastle over the last 14 years. They’ve played four times since November, with Newcastle sneaking a 2-1 win at home in the first match, before City beat them 5-1 on aggregate in the League Cup semi-final. City then won the return League clash 2-1 at home a fortnight ago.

City have lost just twice in their last 25 matches (both away in the space of three days), while Newcastle have lost seven and won six of their last 15 games. Taking on Newcastle at home won’t be a walk in the park, but City are really starting to fire and Newcastle are vulnerable, so this stacks up as a City win.

Newcastle have scored two or more goals in eight of their last 10 games, so in a knockout match this should be goal-heavy.

Verdict

Mansfield’s FA Cup dream to end with a hammering from the Gunners, Wrexham to score against Chelsea, Newcastle to lose to Man City for the fourth match in a row.
