The result followed a 2-1 home defeat against Liverpool and Villa are winless in seven of their last nine. Steven Gerrard’s side have slipped to 14th place in the Premier League due to inconsistent form.

Burnley Form

Burnley lost back-to-back matches for the first time under caretaker boss Mike Jackson. The Clarets lost at home to Aston Villa (3-1) before a 1-0 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday.

Burnley rarely threatened Spurs last time out with 0.64 expected goals and one shot on target. They conceded in first half injury time and couldn’t find an equaliser.

The recent defeats leave Burnley in 18th place and one point from safety. Jackson’s side have a better goal difference and a game in hand over 17th placed Leeds.

Defensive trio Ben Mee, James Tarkowski and Erik Pieters are doubtful.

Midfielder Dale Stephens and forward Jay Rodriguez are also doubtful.

Striker Matej Vydra and midfielders Ashley Westwood and Jóhann Gudmundsson are out.
