Bournemouth vs Burnley

Both sides come into the match in on seven-game winless runs, although for Burnley that reads as seven defeats in a row, while Bournemouth have picked up four draws, including a crazy 4–4 draw at Old Trafford in their last match, which should buoy them ahead of the visit from Burnley.

The Vitality has still been relatively kind to the hosts, with just one league defeat on home turf this season. Burnley have been awful on their travels, losing nine of their last 10 away games. Both sides have been scoring (and conceding) goals aplenty, so this should be a high-scoring clash.

Wolves vs Brentford

Wolves are in full-on crisis mode: bottom of the table, winless all season and with Rob Edwards yet to take a single league point. And they’ve lost their last 10 on the bounce.

Brentford are few steps above the drop zone in 15th place but look far sturdier overall, even if they’ve lost their last five games in a row – travel has been their big weakness.

Given Wolves’ dreadful numbers, many predictors still edge towards the visitors in a tight, low-scoring scrap. Wolves have failed to score in seven of their last 15 games (including two of their last three at home), so I sense a win to nil.

Tottenham vs Liverpool

Liverpool’s resurrection has seen them slip four points ahead of Spurs on the EPL table, but both sides have lost six of their 16 games this season. Liverpool have scored 26 to 24, while Spurs have been tighter at the back with a goal ratio of 25:21.

Spurs have lost four and won just two of their last eight, while Liverpool recovered from losing three on the bounce to hit three wins and two draws in their last five matches. Liverpool are travelling well and have a good record away to Spurs.

The bad vibes surrounding Mo Salah will be lifted as the title-winning star is with Egypt playing in the African Cup of Nations, so that will spark his replacements to fight for his place. It feels like a Liverpool win with plenty of goals loading.

Leeds vs Crystal Palace

Leeds are looking much healthier, despite being one place and one win above the drop zone: unbeaten in three (a win over Chelsea, followed by draws with Liverpool and Brentford) and chasing a fourth straight positive result at Elland Road.

Palace are fifth and excellent away – five wins from eight on the road – but were brought back down by a 3–0 loss to Manchester City last time, and lost and drawn their last two matches. Although Palace have had some powerful wins this season, Leeds are on the up and have won two, drawn one and lost one of their last four home games, so I’m backing a draw.

Verdict

Bournemouth to beat Burnley, while Wolves and Brentford to slug it out in low-scorer.

Tottenham to lose in goal-fest with Liverpool, while Leeds and Crystal Palace to play out a draw.
