Chelsea vs Sunderland

Chelsea have won four on the bounce, with an 8:1 goal tally in their last two matches, so they’re a side in form. Sunderland have only lost one of their last five matches, so they’re also enjoying good form, and are equal with Chelsea on points. They’re scoring fractionally over one goal per game, while Chelsea are hitting two per game in the Premier League, so this looks like a tight Chelsea win.

Newcastle vs Fulham

Separated by one point on the Premier League table, Fulham have lost their last three on the bounce but gave Arsenal a tough time, with keeper Leno Bernd pulling off a handful of great saves. Newcastle look like a team on the rise, winning three of their last four games, with a 3-0 home win over Benfica midweek in the Champions League a huge marker of their potential, coming after their 4-0 win over Royale Union SG. With home ground advantage and their recent form considered, this must be a win for Newcastle.

Manchester United vs Brighton

Brighton are on a great run of three wins and two draws from their last five games, including a 3-1 away win over Chelsea. United also have three wins from five (including their stunning 2-1 away win over Liverpool), but their other two matches were heavy defeats (3-0 & 3-1). I’m seeing this end in a 2-2 draw.

Brentford vs Liverpool

Liverpool broke their four-match losing run by thrashing Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 away from home, so I see Liverpool being back on the wave of being unbeatable for the foreseeable future. Liverpool have scored 12:1 against Brentford in their last five matches (all Liverpool wins). Brentford have gone WLWLW in their last five, but against a back-on-track Liverpool I don’t see Brentford getting a point out of this one.

Chelsea to hit fifth win on the bounce, and Newcastle to make it four wins in five.

Man United to be held by Brighton, and Brentford to suffer Liverpool backlash.
