Bournemouth vs Brentford
It’s been a good season for both sides as they sit 10th and 7th in the table respectively. Neither side has been cracking in front of goal, with Brentford having a goal difference of plus-4 to Bournemouth’s minus-2.
Bournemouth are undefeated in seven (three wins), while Brentford have won four and lost one of their last six games. Bournemouth have scored 18 in 10, while Brentford have scored 15, so there’s a good chance of three-plus goals.
On the road Brentford have won seven of their last eight games, including the last four on the bounce. Bournemouth at home are resolute, losing just twice in 10, but picking up just three wins. This has a score draw written all over it.
Everton vs Burnley
Burnley are stuck in relegation quicksand and it doesn’t look like help is on the way as they are eight points below water level. Everton are up in 8th spot sniffing for European slots and should have Burnley’s ticket in this clash.
Burney have lost four and won just two of their last 10 matches, although Everton are also on four losses but with three wins. Burnley have been terrible on the road, losing five of seven (two draws) before beating Crystal Palace and drawing away to Chelsea.
At home Everton are a horror show, losing five and drawing two of their last seven home games, so the momentum is with Burnley, which is why I’m backing a hard-fought draw.
Leeds vs Sunderland
Sitting in 15th and 12th place respectively both sides should be clear of the main relegation battle, but Leeds will need the points more so I’m thinking they might pull off a win at home against Sunderland.
Sunderland haven’t won on the road in the League in eight games, while Leeds have five wins and two draws in their last 10 games. To prove their home credentials, their only three home defeats in 10 matches have been against the top three of Arsenal, Man City and Aston Villa. I’m backing Leeds’ home form to clinch the points.
Wolves vs Liverpool
Liverpool will be hungry for the three points that separate them from Aston Villa and Man United in the automatic Champions League spots. They’ve pulled off four wins and one defeat in their last five League games, so they are hot to trot.
Wolves are in bottom spot, 14 points behind 17th-placed Notts Forest and their plight looks hopeless. Nonetheless, they have two wins and two draws in their last five matches, beating high-flying Aston Villa 2-0 at home in their last match. At home their record is W3, D2, L2 in their last seven matches, so they aren’t going down without a fight.
On the road Liverpool have been far from convincing in the League since December, drawing three of their seven matches, losing one and winning three… but those three wins were all by one-goal margins. Their last four away matches saw them draw 0-0 with Arsenal, lose 3-2 to Bournemouth and beating struggles Sunderland and Notts Forest both by just 1-0 margins.
It’s a huge ask for Wolves to pull off a win (although that would seem par for the course this season), but I'm boldly going to stick in a pin in for a Wolves draw. Low-scoring!
Verdict
Bournemouth and Brentford to play out a score draw, and Burnley to claim a priceless point at Everton.
Leeds to crack Sunderland at Elland Road, while Wolves to pull off a point against Liverpool.
