Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield in the English Premier League on Monday night. The champions are brilliant at home and I am expecting more of the same against the Gunners.

Liverpool kicked off their campaign against Arsenal in the FA Community Shield. Takumi Minamino scored off the bench to make it 1-1, but the Reds lost in the penalty shootout.

Jürgen Klopp’s charges began their Premier League defence with a scintilating 4-3 victory over newly-promoted Leeds United. It was a great spectacle at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah grabbing a hat-trick and Virgil van Dijk also finding the back of the net.

The Reds then won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea after the Blues had a man sent off. The deadly Sadio Mané scored a brace, while Alisson saved a penalty to keep his clean sheet intact.

In their last match, Liverpool made the trip to Lincoln City for a League Cup tie on Thursday. The Reds came away with a 7-2 win thanks to goals from Xherdan Shaqiri, Takumi Minamino (2), Curtis Jones (2), Marko Grujic, and Divock Origi.

Liverpool are missing injured centre-back Joel Matip and Joe Gomes is doubtful. Fabinho could continue next to Virgil van Dijk after an impressive performance there against Chelsea.

Midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is injured but Jordan Henderson could be available after coming off injured against Chelsea. New signing Thiago is set for his full Premier League debut for Jürgen Klopp’s side.

Expect Klopp to bring his attacking stars back into the starting side including Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Arsenal have hit the ground running this season, lifting the FA Community Shield and taking maximum points in the league.

The Gunners started their Premier League campaign with a routine 3-0 victory at Fulham and then beat West Ham United 2-1 at the Emirates. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah grabbed the goals to down the Hammers.

In their last fixture, Mikel Arteta’s charges beat Leicester City 2-0 in the League Cup on Wednesday. An own goal and a late strike from Eddie Nketiah secured the Gunners' progression in the competition.

Arsenal are still missing injured defenders Callum Chambers, Pablo Mari and Shkodran Mustafi. Sokratis, Cédric Soares and Kieran Tierney are close to a return.

Mikel Arteta is also without midfielder Emile Smith Rowe and striker Gabriel Martinelli. Expect Arteta to call on his strongest starting side at Anfield.
