Man United vs West Ham Predictions

Manchester United will be in good spirits thanks to their victory over rivals Manchester City, but concerned that their UEFA Europa League draw with AC Milan has put into the spotlight their shortcomings. West Ham United will be ready to exploit the Red Devils' issues, but will also be well aware that they have slipped up to bigger sides in the shape of United, City and Liverpool in their last 16 fixtures.

  • Man United have drawn 4 of their last 5 matches (all competitions).
  • Man United are unbeaten in 12 matches (all competitions).
  • Man United have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches (Premier League).
  • Man United are undefeated in their last 16 home matches against West Ham (all competitions).
  • Man United have drawn 2 of their last 3 matches against West Ham (all competitions).
  • West Ham are undefeated in 14 of their last 16 matches (all competitions).

Head-to-Head

Manchester United hold a strong advantage over West Ham, winning 68 and drawing 32 in 145 meetings between the sides. West Ham have won 45 of those encounters.

United have lost one of the last 5 meetings between the two sides.

They have played each other twice this season. At the London Stadium in December, Manchester United won 3-1 in the Premier League. In an FA Cup tie in February, the Red Devils won 1-0 at home in extra-time.

Man United Form

Following a midweek European disappointment of conceding a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with AC Milan, Man United will be looking to build on their big win against Man City in the Premier League last weekend.

It was the battle of the unbeaten away record against the winning run in the Manchester derby and United came out on top at the Etihad Stadium.

An early Bruno Fernandes penalty was followed up by a Luke Shaw goal early in the second half in a real show of what United can do on their day.

However, the other side of their team was out on display against AC Milan in the week. They were lucky to have a first half Milan goal ruled out and went ahead through starlet Amad Diallo.

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson will be disappointed with the manner of Milan’s injury time equaliser and will feel the pressure of de Gea when he returns to the squad.

They have been defensively solid, and Milan’s goal was their first conceded goal in over eight hours in all competitions. They are unbeaten in 12 games in all competitions.

Manchester United Injuries and Team News

United have a lengthy injury list and look set to be without the likes of Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial and Phil Jones.

Marcus Rashford may face a late injury test to see if he is fit for the game, but it looks as though the goal scoring reliance will be on the young shoulders of Mason Greenwood.

West Ham Form

Few would have predicted that West Ham would still be in the mix for a Champions League spot at this point of the season, and they will be keen to stay there.

The Hammers come into the game following a good 2-0 win at home to Leeds. Goals came from United loanee Jesse Lingard and Craig Dawson.

This was the perfect comeback from the valiant defeat away to Man City where a Michail Antonio goal was not enough to stop the Premier League leaders winning 2-1.

In their last 16 matches, David Moyes’ side have only lost to City and Liverpool in 90 minutes and have proven to be very tough customers this season.

Other than the City defeat, West Ham had only conceded one goal or less in their last 6 games and the solid run includes four clean sheets in their last seven games.

West Ham Injuries and Team News

The unavailability of loanee Jesse Lingard against his parent club will disappoint the Hammers.

He joins Andriy Yarmolenko, Ryan Fredericks, Angelo Ogbonna and Arthur Masuaku as the players absent for this game.
