This is a huge fixture for Cape Verde in Group D as they currently top the table as they seek automatic World Cup qualification. However, they are only one point ahead of Cameroon, so at the very least, need to avoid defeat.

The island side have won five of their seven matches, losing one and drawing one thus far. They have been victorious in their last four games in qualification.

Last week Cape Verde got a crucial result, beating Mauritius 2-0 away from home. It was a banana skin game for Cape Verde but goals from Jovane Cabral and Diney saw them seal the points.

Cameroon Form

Cameroon are second in Group D, one point off Cape Verde. Victory here would take them to the top with two matches to play. Defeat will all but seal their fate to second place.

While the Indomitable Lions remain unbeaten in their seven qualifiers, they have only won four games and drawn the other three. Still, they are not short on goals, by far leading the goal difference stakes.

On Thursday last week, Cameroon were in dominant form, swatting Eswatini aside 3-0 at home. All three goals came within the first half hour of the game.

Cape Verde have not lost in six matches while Cameroon are on a 13-match unbeaten run. This could be tight considering the positions held in the group. A draw is my best bet.
