DR Congo vs Senegal Predictions - Senegal to settle for a point in World Cup qualifier

DR Congo currently lead Group B in the World Cup qualifiers, holding a one-point advantage over unbeaten Senegal. Both teams are demonstrating strong form—DR Congo has won 5 of 7 qualifiers, including a recent 4-1 over South Sudan, while Senegal is undefeated in 7 matches. Their last head-to-head also ended 1-1, and with so much on the line, another close draw is predicted. The outcome of this match could be decisive for automatic qualification, making it a must-watch fixture.

DR Congo vs Senegal Predictions

DR Congo have had a stellar qualifying campaign thus far and sit just above Senegal. This is a huge game for both sides, but I am backing this one to end the same as their game in Senegal during qualification – in a 1-1 draw.

Head to Head

DR Congo managed to draw 1-1 when they met Senegal away from home in June 2024.

DR Congo Form

DR Congo currently top Group B ahead of Senegal by one point with three matches to play. The result of this fixture will go a long way in determining who gets automatic World Cup qualification.

Of their seven matches to date, DR Congo have won five, lost one and drawn one, putting them on 17 points. Last week, they thrashed South Sudan 4-1 away from home which also helped improve their goal difference, which could be key at the end.

Cedric Bakambu scored a first half brace before Nathanael Mbuku made it 3-0 at the break. Yoana Wissa made it 4-0 before South Sudan pulled a goal back with 22 minutes left to play.

Senegal Form

Senegal find themselves in second place despite being unbeaten in seven qualifiers. They have won four and drawn three, which puts them on 15 points, one point behind their opponents.

At home last Friday, Senegal secured a crucial win, beating Sudan 2-0. Kalidou Koulibaly scored in the 14th minute before Pape Matar Sarr doubled the lead just before the break.

Verdict

This match will be very tactical, Senegal are a point behind and cannot afford to lose this one. DR Congo, while victory would put them in a great position, would settle for a share of the spoils. This looks set to end level.
