Belarus v Denmark (Group C)
This should be a cakewalk for Denmark who are top of the table with four points from their two matches. Belarus have shipped seven goals in their two defeats in qualifiers, starting with a 5-1 thumping away to Greece (who were beaten 3-0 by Denmark), but I can see them scoring one goal at home in what could be a three-plus goal win for Denmark.
Malta v Netherlands (Group G)
It’s going to rain goals in tiny Malta, who have leaked 12 goals to one netted in their five qualifiers. The Netherlands are a top drawer side who haven’t lost in their last five games… which included hammering Malta 8-0 at home. Even if the Netherlands field their second-stringers I could see them running into double figures in Malta.
Austria v San Marino (Group H)
San Marina are 0 for 5 in their last five matches, including losses to Malta (3-1) and Modena (4-1) in friendlies. Austria have won 4-in-4 in qualifiers and have won the last three matches against San Marino 4-1, 7-0 and 4-0. San Marino are unlikely to get into Austria’s half aside from long balls forwards, so Austria are sure to hit six-plus goals. San Marino could be good value to snatch a late consolation goal (Last Team To Score at 19.00) if Austria take the foot off the gas.
Czech Republic v Croatia (Group L)
Croatia are top of the table with four wins from four, while the Czechs are level on points but having played one match more. Croatia won their recent match-up 5-1 at home, powering in four goals in the last 22 minutes. On home turf I can see the Czechs netting once or twice, but Croatia should be confident of a win or a draw.
Verdict
Denmark to win big without keeping a clean sheet, but the Netherlands to crush Malta without response.
Austria to run away with it against San Marino, while Croatia to battle it out with the Czechs for a draw or a win.
