World Cup Qualifiers Predictions, 26 March 2026

Czech Republic vs Ireland

The Czech Republic lost just two of their last 10 matches, but they have played mostly against smaller footballing nations. They pulled off a good 0-0 draw at home against Croatia after losing 5-1 to them on the road. Ireland have lost two of their last 10 matches, with both defeats being on the road (0-1 vs Portugal, 2-1 vs Armenia) but have pulled off five wins.

Ireland have won their last three matches (Armenia, Portugal and Hungary) and have kept three cleans sheet in their last five. At home the Czech Republic are unbeaten in their last nine matches, but mostly against smaller nations. Ireland have lost six of their last 10 on the road, with their last two matches being a 1-0 defeat to Portugal and a 3-2 win over Hungary.

Czech Republic’s strong home record includes a 1-1 draw with Saudi Arabia and 0-0 draw with Croatia in their last four matches, and with Ireland’s inconsistent travelling form this could end up in a low-scoring draw.

Denmark vs North Macedonia

Denmark have been in great form, winning five and drawing two in a seven-match streak that ended with a 4-2 away defeat to Scotland in their last match. They kept four clean sheets in that spell and scored 23 goals.

North Macedonia proved resolute in a four-match unbroken spell (W-D-D-D) where they conceded just one goal against Liechtenstein, Belgium, Kazakhstan and Latvia, all at home. They came back to earth in their last match, suffering a thumping 7-1 defeat away to Wales, but have scored in three of their last four defeats.

Denmark have lost just once at home in their last 20 matches, while North Macedonia’s last three matches on the road have been a 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia, a 0-0 draw with Belgium and that 7-1 defeat to Wales. This looks like a solid win for Denmark.

Poland vs Albania

Poland lost four and drew once in a five-match run in 2024, but lost just once in their next 10 matches, winning seven of those matches. They have five clean sheets in their last 10 and scored 17-7. They won five matches at home in a row before drawing their last match 1-1 to the Netherlands, keeping four clean sheets and letting in just two goals while scoring 10.

In their last 10 matches Albania lost 2-0 to England at home and away, but inbetween they went eight matches unbeaten. Those eight matches brought 12 goals but they were mostly against smaller footballing nations. They are unbeaten in four on the road but average just one goal a game in their last 10.

This looks like a game with a handful of goals in it, so I’m backing three or more goals between the two sides.

Ukraine vs Sweden

The conflict in the Ukraine has forced this match to be played in Spain, so Ukraine’s home advantage is negated. Ukraine have lost just once in five matches, beating Iceland 5-3 and 2-0 and Azerbaijan 2-1 after a 1-1 draw. They took a 4-0 thumping away to France after an earlier 2-0 defeat, but scored in all of their other last eight matches.

After beating Northern Ireland (5-1), Hungary (2-0) and Algeria (4-3), Sweden were winless in their next six games, losing four in a row with just one goal to show for their efforts. Despite being goalless in four of their last 10, Sweden have scored 15 in their other six games, so I’m backing both teams to score, but Ukraine to take the win on the back of winning three of their last four games

Verdict

Czech Republic to share the spoils with Ireland, Denmark’s strong home form too much for North Macedonia.

Poland and Albania to entertain with goals, while Ukraine to outplay struggling Sweden.
