The Central African Republic lost their opening CAF African Nations Championship Group B group game by four goals to two to Burkina Faso mid-week.

C.A.R. conceded in the 11th minute of the match before equalising against Burkina Faso four minutes later, going into the break with the score at 1-1. 

The Central African Republic conceded after 61 minutes of play from a spot kick and again at the 78-minute mark from a penalty before conceding their fourth goal six minutes before full-time. 

C.A.R. grabbed their second goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

The Central African Republic had 56% possession and nine shots in the game, with three attempts on target. 

In June, C.A.R. lost 2-1 to Mauritania in a friendly match, and drew 0-0 with Niger and 1-1 with Guinea.

Les Fauves have drawn three of their last five fixtures, including two losses. They scored four goals and conceded seven.

The Central African Republic must improve their defence after leaking too many goals in their previous outing, as they lost against Mauritania a few months ago.

Mauritania failed to score for the second consecutive time in this edition of the CAF African Nations Championship, losing 1-0 to co-hosts Tanzania mid-week.

Mauritania were on the back foot for much of the match but were on course to hold Tanzania to a goalless draw before conceding after 89 minutes of play. 

The Lions of Chinguetti had 32% possession and five shots in the match, with two attempts on target.

Mauritania drew 0-0 against Madagascar in their opening CHAN group game.
