Head to Head

The Congo have the advantage with 15 victories to four against Gabon, including six draws in 25 meetings.

Stade des Marais in France is the venue for this match.

Gabon Form

Gabons' three-match run without a loss ended after they were defeated 3-0 against Senegal this past weekend.

Gabon did not start well when one of their players scored an own goal after 12 minutes of play before Senegal grabbed their second goal just before halftime.

The Panthers made four substitutions at the 64-minute mark during the second half,  but it did little to bring them back into the contest before Senegal scored their third goal in the second minute of stoppage time.

Before that, Gabon lost 2-0 against Mauritania and drew 1-1 against Guinea before they secured victories in two FIFA World Cup qualifiers during November last year, defeating Kenya 2-1 at home and Burundi 2-1 away.

The Panthers have registered two wins in their last five fixtures, including two defeats and one draw. They scored six goals and let in eight at the back in that period.

Gabon will look to make amends after their poor effort in their previous match when they tackle a Congo side struggling with form and leaking goals at the back.

Gabon Team News & Injuries

Head coach Thierry Mouyoum could change his starting XI after their loss against Senegal.

Goalkeepers: Loyce Mbaba, Anse Ngoubi
Defenders: Urie-Michel Mboula, Loic Owono, Stane Essono, J. Oyono Omva, Jacques Ekomie, Alex Moucketou, Aaron Appindangoye, Bruno Ecuele Manga, Yannis Mbemba
Midfielders: Mario Lemina, Guelor Kanga Kaku, David Sambissa, Loufilou Clench, Jack Rissonga, Denis Bouanga, Eric Bocoum, Medwin Biteghe, Lionel Obame
Forwards:  Shavi Babicka, Jim Allevinah, Bayhano Aubyang, Edlin Essang-Matouti, Orphee Mbina, Axel Meye Me Ndong

Congo Form

The Congo have struggled to win lately, losing 2-1 at home against South Sudan before turning the tables with a 1-0 away victory.

After those results, they lost 2-0 at home against Mali and drew 2-2 against the Gambia away.

The Congo's last fixture was in November last year, losing 4-2 away from home against Zambia in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The Red Devils have recorded one win in their last five games, including three defeats and one draw. They scored six goals and conceded ten.

The Congo are winless in their last three outings and have conceded eight goals in those fixtures, which is a poor effort. Can they put in a solid defensive display and find a way to win?

Congo Team News & Injuries

Head coach Isaac Ngata named a 24-man squad for the upcoming friendly against Gabon.

Goalkeepers: Melvin Douniama, Owen Matimbou, Trey Vimalin
Defenders: Yohan Andzouana, Emerson Ayet Illoy, Brayann Peirreira, Brayan Passi, Loick Ayina, Chris Makosso, Erving Botaka
Midfielders: Fred Dmebi, Chandrel Massanga, William Hondermarck, Gauis Makouta, Antione Makoumbou, Dylan Bahamboula, Rabby Ndzingoula
Forwards: Jason Nahamboula, Mons Bassouamina, Alain Ipiele, Silvere Ganvoula, Gabriel Charpentier, Archange Bintsoukou, Christopher Ibayi

Verdict

Gabon have been in decent touch lately and is tipped to produce a winning performance against a struggling Congo side, with BTTS and a 2-1 scoreline at full-time.
