Guinea vs Niger Predictions & Tips - Guinea to win battle of West African rivals

Guinea are a better side than Niger and are in significantly better form. I am tipping Guinea to win against a goal-shy Nigerien side in Turkey.

These sides sit at 1-1 across their three previous matches with one draw.

The sides last met in January 2016 as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Guinea finished second in their AFCON qualification group and failed to qualify for next year’s tournament.

A 1-0 win against Mali put the side in pole position to qualify before a disappointing 2-1 loss away in Namibia proved fatal. Guinea have played three friendlies during this international break as they started with a 0-0 draw against Turkey.

A 2-0 defeat to Togo was followed by a 2-1 win against Kosovo in Turkey. Moustapha Kouyate and Jose Kante scored the goals.

Guinea picked a heavily changed squad from that which lost to Namibia with 22 of those players omitted. Liverpool midfielder and captain Naby Keita is out injured.

Florentin Pogba will play in central defence. Jose Kante will play up front and has three goals in 15 caps.

Niger are winless in eight matches with five draws and three defeats. They finished bottom of their AFCON qualification group with four points from six matches.

A 3-0 home defeat to Ivory Coast was followed by a goalless draw in Madagascar to wrap up their failed attempt to qualify for the African Cup of Nations.

Niger lost 2-0 at to Gambia in their first friendly of this international break and then lost 1-0 to Congo. Both matches were played in Turkey.

Mossi Moussa will lead the line and has scored his country’s only two goals in their last six matches.

Coach Jean Susini has a clean bill of health.
