Mali vs Nigeria Predictions

Mali have been in solid form this year, but they don't have the best record against their opponents. Nigeria recently reached the AFCON final and have been winning regularly. A BTTS victory is predicted in favour of Nigeria.

Head to Head

Nigeria have the advantage with six victories to two against Mali, including three draws in 11 meetings.

The Marrakesh Stadium in Morocco is the venue for this fixture.

Mali Form

Mali bounced back with a win after their quarter-final exit at the recent AFCON finals, defeating Mauritania 2-0 last weekend.

Mali got off to a flyer against Mauritania when they took the lead in the 9th minute of the match and doubled their tally three minutes later to take control of the game.

Mali had their moments in the second stanza, but the score remained unchanged till the final whistle.

Before that result, Mali topped their group at the Africa Cup of Nations at the beginning of the year before defeating Burkina Faso 2-0 in the round of 16 but came up short against the eventual champions, the Ivory Coast, losing 2-1 after extra time.

The Eagles have won two of their last five fixtures, including one loss and two draws. They scored six goals and let in four at the back.

Mali have been in solid form in recent months, but their record against Nigeria is not the best, and they will have to play well to get the results as the opponents are in red-hot form.

Mali Team News & Injuries

Head coach Eric Chelle will likely field a similar starting XI that beat Mauritania.

Defender Modibo Sagnan scored the opening goal against Mauritania.

El Bilal Toure was also on the scoresheet.

Nigeria Form

Nigeria returned to winning ways with a 2-1 triumph over rivals Ghana last weekend.

Nigeria opened the scoring when they converted a spot kick in the 38th minute of the match to go into the break with the upper hand.

Nigeria grabbed their second goal after 84 minutes of play before Ghana pulled one back in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Before that, Nigeria performed well at the Africa Cup of Nations, drawing 1-1 against Equatorial Guinea before beating the Ivory Coast 1-0 and Guinea-Bissau 1-0 in the group stages.

The Super Eagles defeated Cameroon 2-0 in the round of 16, Angola 1-0 in the quarter-finals, and South Africa in the semi-final, going through 4-2 on penalties after the score ended 1-1

Nigeria faced the Ivory Coast in the final, who they had defeated earlier in the competition but lost 2-1 on the night.

The Super Eagles have recorded four victories in their last five fixtures, including one loss. They netted seven goals and conceded three.

Nigeria have another tough assignment ahead when they tackle Mali; however, they will fancy their chances to achieve another victory over their opponents as they have been in great touch lately.

Nigeria Team News & Injuries

Frank Onyeka and Calvin Bassey are unavailable for selection as they have returned to their clubs.
