Republic of Ireland vs Belgium Preview

The Republic of Ireland are managerless, in poor form and rarely threaten the top international sides. Belgium are one of the most in-form European teams and the Red Devils can seal another victory in Dublin.

Head-to-Head

Belgium have a 6-4 advantage against the Republic of Ireland in 16 meetings with six draws.

Republic of Ireland Form

The Republic of Ireland sacked previous manager Stephen Kenny after failure to qualify for Euro 2024. Ireland lost six of eight qualifiers, with two wins coming against minnows Gibraltar (3-0 and 4-0).

The Boys in Green showed more solidity in a 1-1 friendly draw against New Zealand in their most recent fixture.

Ireland had 13 shots, 51% possession and Adam Idah gave his side the lead. New Zealand levelled after half time to secure the draw.

Verdict

Ireland are unlikely to see much of the ball against an in-form and talented Belgium side. The Red Devils control matches, can score goals and an away win is the best bet in this clash.
