This is a tough game to call. Swallows have a very strong backline and are tough to beat but Cape Town City are very strong going forward at home. I am tipping them to inflict a first defeat of the season on Swallows.

Cape Town City made a fine start to the season but have since had a major dip. Their last eight league matches have seen four defeats, two wins and two draws. They sit 7th in the Premier Soccer League table.

A 2-1 away defeat to Kaizer Chiefs was followed by a 2-0 win at Black Leopards and 4-2 home victory against Golden Arrows. City then drew 1-1 at Baroka and beat Bloemfontein Celtic 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup.

City have lost their last two matches as they were beaten 2-0 at Orlando Pirates and then 2-1 away at SuperSport United. They had equalised in the second half against SuperSport but conceded a goal ten minutes from time.

Cape Town City Injuries & Team News

Cape Town City are still without Edmilson Dove at left back due to injury. The side has a clean bill of health otherwise but may make changes in defence. Ioannis Potouridis could start in defence alongside Taariq Fielies.

In attack, Tashreeq Morris and Justin Shonga are pushing for a place so Craig Martin could drop into a right back role to accommodate one of them.

Swallows Form

Swallows sit in 3rd place in the PSL table after 15 matches having won seven and drawn eight matches. Under coach Brandon Truter, the side have not lost a match since March 2020.

Swallows have drawn five of their last six PSL matches. A 1-0 win at Baroka was followed by three 1-1 draws in a row, at home to Chippa United, away to Mamelodi Sundowns and away to SuperSport United.

Swallows then beat Cape United 1-0 at home in the Nedbank Cup. In their last match, Cape Town City lost 2-1 away to SuperSport United.

Swallows Injuries & Team News

Swallows were without Virgil Vries in goal for the last match. If he isn’t fit, then Thela Ngobeni would deputise.

Coach Brandon Truter has a clean bill of health otherwise with plenty of options at fullback and in the wide areas.
