Orlando Pirates won 3-0 away at Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday. Below are the player ratings for the Pirates starting XI and subs. Pirates responded well to an early Nedbank Cup exit.
STARTING XI
Sipho Chaine: 6
The goalkeeper has some late saves to make, but he was largely untroubled.
Kamogelo Sebelelele: 8 - Man of the Match
The winger played as a right back once again. He assisted the opening goal and had an excellent performance defensively. This was his best performance in a fullback role since joining the club.
Lebone Seema: 7
The central defender read the game well, intercepting plenty of balls into the channel. He also hit some accurate long passes from the back.
Nkosinathi Sibisi: 7
The captain was rock-solid and kept Flavio Da Silva in his pocket. He eventually had to go off after a sickening clash of heads.
Deon Hotto: 8
The left back had a very strong game. He gave Glodi Lilepo almost nothing on that flank. Hotto was strong defensively and passed the ball well.
Thalente Mbatha: 7
The midfielder came back from injury to add energy to the side. He scored an offside goal and made several dangerous forward runs.
Makhehlene Makhaula: 8
The veteran midfielder was excellent. He broke up so much play, and those regains led to fast Pirates counters. Chiefs got almost nothing through central areas.
Oswin Appollis: 7
The winger scored the second goal and combined very well with Mofokeng. We did not see his usual dribbling as a right winger, but he came inside to good effect.
Rele Mofokeng: 7
The youngster was trusted to play as the number ten. He tried to force intricate passes on occasion, but it was generally a threatening outing.
Tshepang Moremi: 7
The winger opened the scoring with a deflected strike from distance. He made some excellent runs down the left in the first half, and looks back to his best level.
Yanela Mbuthuma: 6
The striker made constant runs, and worked hard from the front. He was not really a goal threat, but he kept the Chiefs defenders on their toes.
SUBSTITUTES:
Masindi Nemtajela: 6
The midfielder was sold after replacing Mbatha.
Evidence Makgopa: 7
The striker came on with a point to prove. He took full advantage of Chiefs being temporarily down to ten men by heading home the third goal.
Deano Van Rooyen: 6
He came on in the 85th minute to help shut up shop.
Patrick Maswanganyi: 6
The number ten played only a few minutes, but he helped to retain possession.
