Mamelodi Sundowns won 3-1 at home to Sekhukhune United on Sunday. Below are the player ratings for the Sundowns starting XI and subs. The Brazilians sit second in the PSL on goal difference.
STARTING XI
Ronwen Williams: 6
The goalkeeper did not have much to do. There were a few careless mistakes at times on the ball.
Khuliso Mudau: 7
The right back had another strong game. He aided the attack well in the first half. Perhaps he could have done better to stop the cross for Sekhukhune's equaliser.
Grant Kekana: 7
The central defender is finding some strong form. He had a steady match and could not be blamed for the goal conceded.
Khulumani Ndamane: 7
The young centre back continues to impress. He won many headers and completed nine clearances in the 90 minutes.
Aubrey Modiba: 6
The left back had a hand in the winning goal, but he also takes most of the blame for the Sekhukhune equaliser. He was out of position and allowed a free header at the back post.
Jayden Adams: 7
The midfielder was largely good. He controlled the game and got forward to threaten with a couple of headed attempts. However, he made two weak challenges in the lead-up to the goal conceded.
Teboho Mokoena: 6
The midfielder was far from his best. He got cautioned in the first half and was a tad lucky not to get a second yellow. He was taken off on the hour mark.
Arthur Sales: 7
It was a boost to have Sales fit to start. He assisted the opening goal, had a good strike from distance and eventually left the pitch after an hour under his belt.
Marcelo Allende: 7
Having lost his place in a deeper role, Allende scored a beautiful strike from his newfound number ten position. It was his second goal in as many matches. He also created two chances and won three ground duels.
Tashreeq Matthews: 6
After a quiet first half, he had a good period after the break. There were signs of his old self with two chances created.
Brayan Leon: 5
The striker was not in the game at all. He touched the ball just 12 times in 68 minutes and was caught offside on three occasions.
SUBSTITUTES:
Nuno Santos: 6
He came on for Sales on the half mark. Santos did not really influence the game much, and his below-par form continued for another week.
Themba Zwane: 6
The veteran got 30 minutes on the pitch in place of Mokoena. He kept the ball well, but did not really create a whole lot. He needs more minutes to regain top form.
Iqraam Rayners: 9 - Man of the Match
The top scorer looked lively and fresh. He scored two fine goals as his ruthless finishing returned. These were his first goals since a penalty against Richards Bay back in September.
Monnapule Saleng: 8
The big-money signing from rivals Orlando Pirates made an instant impact. He roasted the fullback to create the match-winning goal down the right side. He could be crucial to Downs' hopes of retaining the league title.
Lebo Mothiba: 5
The physical forward came on for the final 10 minutes. He only touched the ball once and lost all four of his duels.
