Jose Riveiro Discusses His Expiring Deal
Orlando Pirates’ Spanish coach Jose Riveiro has squashed questions that are swirling about his future. The former Inter Turku coach has just seven months left on his contract.

The coach, who has won five trophies in 2.5 seasons at Bucs, said the timing was not right to talk. Riveiro said: “It’s a good question. I’m sorry to disappoint you but we are in a very important point of the season.
“It’s true that my contract is ending and probably there is going to be a moment where we can sit down and have that conversation, and let’s see what happens after that.
The Spaniard the task at hand and the quest for more silverware: “Right now is a moment to stay together. The situation we are in now, which means nothing, it’s just seven games in the league.
“We are very, very close to starting the group stage in the Champions League, we are really motivated for this competition, where we can test ourselves in a very high level.
“Like I said there is going to be a moment where going to talk about it [my future] and to be honest about it with ourselves and see what’s coming.”
Riveiro Loses Another Staff Member
After the departure of assistant coach Sergio Almenara in the off-season, another member of Jose Riveiro’s technical team has left the club.
Former Stellenbosch FC Performance Analyst, Devon O’Brien only joined in June but has already moved on to new pastures.
Meanwhile, Pirates officially secured Ruan Rust as their new Head of Performance. He will oversee the Sports Science and Conditioning Department at the club.
Centre Back Praises Teammate
In other Pirates news, central defender Thabiso Sesane has praised the currently-injured Olisa Ndah.
Sesane told iDiski Times: “He is very calm, and I know what he is going to do when he has the ball.
“He is very special, and he also knows I’m special too. I have played with all of the centre-backs, and we understand one another. What I can say about Olisa is that we understand each other better.”
