Orlando Pirates have secured two new additions to their squad, wingers Daniel Msendami and defender Mpho Chabatsane, in a bid to strengthen their position at the top of the PSL table as they aim to break their 16-year title drought. Msendami brings speed from his recent participation in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, while Chabatsane fills a crucial gap left by the departed Mbekezeli Mbokazi. Meanwhile, player exits may occur as Sinoxolo Kwayiba returns to Chippa United and Tshegofatso Mabasa nears a potential loan to Stellenbosch FC.

Orlando Pirates have announced two new signings as they look to end a 14-year PSL drought. They currently sit two points clear at the top of the table as we near the resumption of the league.

Speedy winger Daniel Msendami and versatile defender Mpho Chabatsane. This is in addition to number ten Andre De Jong, who was signed for a significant transfer fee from Stellenbosch FC.

Pirates enjoyed a fine first half of the season with two domestic trophies lifted.

Msendami Brings Pace

Zimbabwean winger Daniel Msendami joined Bucs fresh off featuring at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations. He is a pure wide player with searing pace down either flank.

The foreign interest in wingers Rele Mofokeng and Oswin Appollis may have prompted the transfer. Pirates have one eye on succession planning after a bid for Appollis from Chicago Fire was rejected.

Chabatsane to replace Mbokazi?

The R50 million sale of Mbekezeli Mbokazi to Chicago Fire has left a hole in defence. With no other left-footed central defenders, Pirates have moved to replace Mbokazi.

Mpho Chabatsane has come through the door from Marumo Gallants. He can play both centrally and at left back and will boost options for coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s team.

Exits Tipped as Top Striker’s Deal Runs Down

Pirates are set to allow further players to leave the club. Attacking midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba has already returned to Chippa United after playing just four times after his arrival from Chippa.

Goal poacher Tshegofatso Mabasa is being linked with a loan move to Stellenbosch FC. The striker has five months left on his contract and is rumoured to be on his way to Kaizer Chiefs as a free agent in July.

Other players who may seek moves away are midfielders Kabelo Dlamini and Simphiwe Selepe.
